Blech... those sony media are the worst out there in the market. 10 out of 10 sony cdrs that I used for my car ended up peeling within 6 months. Piece of crap sony disc media.. BLEH.

As for the pioneer 106. yeah... that's one fine piece of machinary, but unfortunately, they don't manufacture the 106 anymore. You still might be able to find some in the memorex 4x dual drives and the cendyne 4x dual drives that're recently being clearanced out in retail.

I'm still waiting to buy myself a DVD-burner but it seems like Pioneer is the leading company in that department ne? Personally I'm a big Sony fan (currerntly using their CD-RW DVD-R combo drive) so I'll probably end up getting a Sony DVD-burner. ANy recommended models for me to look at and how stable is DVD burning so far. Like do you guys ever run into bad burns and are generic CDs safe. I'm not sure what's the shelf life for a dvd.

yes i'm leaning toward them because of all the good feedback Pioneer gets... Mr Green

Hey what do you guys think about External DVD burner?
Is the quality less than the internal ones??

i have a slow hp external usb cd-burner and its never failed...

something about the added requirements of external dvd burners [all the data moving at fast streaming pace] just knocks out the option for pc's without firewire/usb2... so your paying just for the slow burner & unknown portability issues.

unless someone has an external and can comment on their experiences?

Just upgraded to zoomplayer 3.2 from 3.1 and found an option to set preferred audio language and subtitle stream. Very useful for OGM formats since i don't have to select japanese audio language and english subtitles at the start of every episode.

OMG = oh my god Mr Green

OGM is a container format, just putting bookmarks, subtitles, multiple audio streams into one file.

This looks like a good explanation of how to use ogm for windows users: http://ld-anime.faireal.net/guide/ogm-en

But I wouldn't know ... my favorite software is Linux!

just downloaded the newest version of azureus. Applaud
Man, the config options changed again - its getting more complicated on each new release. Sweat
I like the new 2-pane display and the statistics screen though. Also, lots more options now for auto-seed, priority list, and tracker.

tried installing the new version of peerguardian yesterday - a utility to block unwanted ip addresses like those from riaa, mpaa, etc. It works but i think it still has some problems with edonkey coz its eating up all my cpu cycles. HAd to uninstall it right away. anyway, there's another software that does the same thing - Protowall, uses very few cpu cycles because it does the filtering at driver level, but it does slow down your transfer speed a bit. The changelog mentions that it uses less resources. I didnt really notice though since i havent experienced any slow downs since 2.04. I did upgrade my java as well to the newest version...

EDIT: Just checked my stats. It doest go over 20% cpu and mem usage is around 28mb.

Need a bit of help..

Anybody can reccomend any good media editing freeware? The most important features I'm looking for are:

1. Capturing mpeg screenshots into jpeg images.

2. cut and edit mpeg videos.

3. extracting audio from mpeg videos

4. converting between different audio formats..

I had Blaze Media Pro trial and it was excellent. I'm looking for something similar..

Thanks in advance guys!!!
