Does it work on your PC?

Is it DVD-Video or avi files burned onto a DVD?

Haven't tried it on my PC yet. Also, the first disc works perfectly, but the other 5 don't. And it's DVD-Video.

Pulled out all the RAM modules, blew off the dust, checked the gold fingers for damage/corrosion and reinserted them one at a time...

Now the system boots all the way into Windows. Head Scratch

Running Memtest86 now. Sweat Fingers crossed Sweat

After removing and reinstalling/reseating the RAM modules, everything seems okay now...

Being cautious... Time to backup everything. Fingers crossed Sweat

Good that things are working out so far. Hopefully it's just a one-time thing.

Backup is a good idea. You wouldn't want to lose all those Juri-chan pictures and videos now. Beaten

I tried it on my PC and it works! But I'm still wondering why it doesn't work on a regular DVD player. It seems like it's the same format as the first disc, so it really shouldn't make too much of a difference right? Or is it just wishful thinking on my part...

Time to try the discs on a different DVD player... Like I've said in the past, DVDs are finicky.

Also, try copying one of the "bad" discs to a DVD-RW, then try it on your player.... That might confirm that your player doesn't like those DVDs...

Um, what brand are they?

I tried the discs in 2 different players (LiteOn and Koss...hmm, what kind of generic brand is that??) but it didn't work. I'll try my JVC and Pioneer later tonight.

And I'll try copying the discs to a RW disc as you suggested.

The disc brand is Maxell. I haven't had problems with Maxell discs until I got these bunch of discs. Still, both of the players played disc 1 just perfectly, but they must be temperamental with the other discs for some odd reason.

Most assuredly. Victory! Peace!

Currently testing out a new install on another HDD... Once I took care of those memory modules, the install went through without a hitch: no ACPI-related hiccups or anything...

Once I inventory all the software and other crap I installed on the other HDD, I'll install everything on this drive and move forward. Victory! Peace!

EDIT: Also running Firefox 3 at the moment... Seems okay, though some of my add-ons and themes won't work with this version. Sweat

Maxells should be OK... Might be that your players are finicky...

I think you may be right. I just feel bad that I had asked the person for a copy of the drama when it was quite possibly the fault of my players. Sad

I'll post again once I get a chance to watch it on the other players. Fingers crossed

I wish I could move to the mainland, but I don't know anyone there that would let me stay longer than a few days. Sweat And I doubt I'd want to deal with all the crazy traffic that you guys have there though, especially since everything I need is usually less than 15 minutes away by car.

Cool. If you still have a spare room, lemme move in. That way I don't need to bother with messageboards when I'm having tech problems. Beaten

I guess that's a "no"? Puppy Dog Eyes

Anyway, I checked it on the Pioneer and the sound is alright. I don't know if I should count that player since it's able to play data discs though. I haven't checked it on the JVC, but I will as soon as I'm finished with recording something.
