I think it may be time for a new DVD drive in my comp Sad

I've had quite a few authored DVD's finish with the message: "Burn completed successfully but finalising failed" or something like that. I've tried the same files, discs and the same program (ConvertXtoDVD) on my work comp with no problem, so I can only assume my DVD burner is dying Sad

Before you junk it, try burning using a different burning tool like Nero or ImgBurn ( http://www.videohelp.com/tools/ImgBurn )

If all you're going to use your laptop for is visiting the net, using Microsoft Office apps (available for Macs as well), or burning, it's better to stick with PC.

From a technical/scientific/engineering standpoint, everyone uses PCs: Software/Hardware/CAD/CAM/CAE design and development packages are written for the PC and Windows-based.

I'll compromise by keeping the PC desktop that I have.. It's only a year old, but I have outgrown it's "stationary" features. And still get a mac book. Just cause.

Yup. There's no denying. But for everything else there's Mac. Mr Green

That's what I did when I was transitioning. I'm the only Mac in my house. I have a lappy and a desktopn. But we're all Mac at work.

like i always say, use what you want. We're Dell at work and Dell at home (including my work supplied laptop). My bro works for LAUSD so he gets two macbooks and the ones for home he buys at a heavy discount.

I guess that's the easiest, really. I feel guilty getting rid of a 1 y/o desktop. Sad

anyways, just because you've sent me nekked photos of yourself doesn't mean we're family. Shake Head

That is correct! It does defy the logic of said former statement.

I take offense in that statement! Boot out

Getting a Radeon HD 4850 soon; should be arriving via FedEx by Tuesday. Looking forward to the video card upgrade finally, as it will allow me to play some more recent games without them looking like old PS1 games. It should also allow me to play the high-def videos without skipping any frames. I just need to find some high-def Juri-chan videos to take advantage of it Mr Green

Sadly, I no longer have those videos. Shameful Cry

I still have the 720p version of Nodame Cantabile. I look forward to viewing those smoothly without having to overclock my CPU. My old video card does only MPEG-2 decoding, so the 720p stuff, or anything else for that matter, was all CPU. I tried playing some 1080p videos and it was an absolute failure.
