What are you doing when that message shows up?
It says "Windows - Drive Not Ready"
Are you trying to access a floppy or CD or DVD or similar?

I think the point is, HJ Split is used to break up big files so they can be uploaded to places that have a maximum file size limit - so you download fille1.avi.part1, fille1.avi.part2, etc, and once you have all the parts, you run HJ Split and it automatically joins them into 1 file.
I know this is sudden, but my sister's computer has died and she wants to know what computer she should buy. She wants intel... and she wants to know what the i7 CPU is.
Her monitor and stuff is working... it's just a tower. I haven't had a PC in 10 years... so I can't help her much. I thought mebbe someone here would have some ideas?
Btw, thumb is healing nicely. Just give me a few more days and I'll be back to help Eve hold the female forts here. _________________

Wyn-chan!
The i7 is just Intel's latest quad-core processor. If she really needs the latest and greatest, it's probably what she wants, but otherwise any reasonably new processor should be fine. Depends what she's going to be doing with it, I guess.
I miss you guys, too. It's been one thing after another since returning from Japan...

What's a really good processor? She mentioned something about Gateway(?). _________________

I did, and she said the usual stuff. I'm not sure what that means... but I think she wants the best.
For my part, I use her PC to copy/burn dramas... does that help?
Not really
The newer the processor & associated stuff, the faster it will be for doing various things like video encoding (ConvertX), watching hi-def video, image processing (Photoshop) and so on, and if she's a gamer, with a new graphics card and plenty of RAM (4G+) play the latest games. But it will also be the most expensive. And some programs aren't coded for a quad-core processor so wouldn't be any faster. But if she's just surfing, email, copying/burning CD's, word processing etc, it would be a waste to get a top of the line comp.

She sort of does everything above except play games. I place the Sims on her comp... but thats about it. Thanks for the advice!

(if it's too small to read, I can re-scan...)
I just printed this and handed it to the sis. She said "THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HELP, GUYS!"
She's pretty upset. She's had her PC for five years and she's a bit nervous about getting a new one.
Thanks for making it easier for her. _________________

She would be pretty safe with any mid-range comp nowadays. The Sims isn't a big demand on the PC, it's more the latest FPS's that need cutting-edge equipment
