I've got a DVD which was successfully copied about 2 weeks ago, and I haven't used it since, just sitting in a folder of sleeves. But some of the files on that disc cannot be copied anymore when I tried it a couple of days ago... Grumble

Are there any special trick or program to copy the disc? I tried cleaning it with one of those cloth for eyeglasses, and inspecting it carefully, and it didn't appear to be scratched.

Have you tried ISOBuster?

I would also try DVD Decrypter, which is free. I think ISOBuster had a free trial or something, but was supposed to be a paid program... (Tell me if I'm wrong. I downloaded it once but eventually got rid of it because it didn't offer anything better than DVD Decrypter, which I already have.

^ Yeah, DVD Decrypter is also worth a try... Victory! Peace!

It's good to have both: sometimes one works better than the other when trying to recover stuff from a disc. Smile

Thanks! I tried both, but ISO buster reported bad sectors and DVD Decrypter said "Failed to read Sector 21588xx - L-EC Uncorrectable Error". Doh!

Does that mean there is no hope for it?

Well, you could let either program continue until completion (it might take a while if there's lots of bad sectors) and see how bad or good the final result is.

Also, you might try either of those programs on another PC: you might get better results or maybe no errors at all... Some DVD drives are better at reading bad/marginal discs than others... Smile

I think I've got a bad memory module... Running MemTest.

I'll probably update the BIOS, if possible.

Finally found the culprit (using Memtest 86+): a bad 512MB module. Sweat
