Now I have another problem: I have audio on Pinnacle Studio 9 but no video even when I change to composite. All connections are okay. The tv tuner is not even able to find any tv station. is there a way to change the tunning frequencies?- i mean on pinnacle studio 9?

I think what you're trying to do is make Pinnacle Studio into a flexible video capturing utility.
It's not going to happen.
If you read through www.dvdrhelp.com and some of the video-related sites, you'll find that Pinnacle Studio is very fixed in its configuration, including choice of DV/MPEG video/audio codecs, frequencies, etc. PS also doesn't seem to work well for me when I tried using DivX Pro 5.x codecs to capture or rip the video.
Myself, along with many others using ATI hardware, we're using the ATI Multimedia Center (MMC). MMC is very flexible, and it works quite well with 3rd-party video codecs, including Huffy, among others. I recommend that you give up on Pinnacle Studio for the capturing portion and work with MMC. Use Pinnacle Studio for video editing, which it's very good at doing.

hello everyone, i have a quick question for those of you that are familiar with the new macs. for some reason, i can type in japanese everywhere except for in my internet window. the japanese text displays fine on japanese sites but, when i try and type say an email in japanese, i get the strange encryption. i've tried setting it to all the different character sets and everything.
It's been awhile since I've touched my Macintosh computer... It's possible that the text mode in your e-mail application is running in UTF-8 or similar (i.e. it doesn't handle double-byte character sets like Japanese fonts). Which e-mail application are you using? The mail application built into Mac OS X? Eudora Pro? Web-based e-mail? Also, which version of Mac OS are you using (Mac OS X 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, etc.)?
A good source for information on this sort of thing is Apple Computer's discussion board:

its web based email...hotmail account....if i remember correctly, i think the version of mac im running is 10.2....thanks for the reply...
It's the character set used by the Hotmail web page. Checking the HTML source, Hotmail has it set to ISO-8859-1. I think for the web site to handle Japanese characters, it has to be set to Shift_JIS. JDorama.com uses Shift_JIS on all of its web pages. There's really nothing you can do about it.

i c...yea....the funny thing is, when i try and type in japanese on this website, the same thing happens. even if i have my character set set to shift-JIS. its really weird.

Well.. after having burned over 6000 dvds, here're personal preferences and interesting tidbits.
Here's a list of all the dvd burners I've used. Ranks from most hated piece of crap, to the cream of the crop.
Plextor 708 (One of the MOST PICKEST DRIVE EVER, tossed it in less than 2 weeks)
BTC DRW1008im
Lite-On 811s
NEC ND-1100a
Pioneer A06
NEC ND-2510a
NEC ND-2500a
Whenever you burn dvds, make sure you get quality media. This is an absolute must. Personally, I like Prodisc, MCC, and Taiyo Yuden. A lot of people like Ritek/RicohJPN, but I will warn you. Not all Riteks're made the same. There're several tiers, and you cannot guarrante which tier you get. Also, the finish around the edge of the disc is not that great at all. Lots of bubbling.
Regarding hacked firmwares. I don't recommand you use the hacked firmwares that adjusts dvd write speed on media. The write speed restriction is there for a reason, and messing with it will cause you more headache than not. For example, the hacked firmware for the Pioneer A07 removes speed restriction for ALL media. If you're not sure what's the safest speed to burn your media on, be prepared to get a lot of coasters. To me, it's very aggravating to have to keep another eye on the whole burning process. Also, you void your warranty.
Regarding how to connect your dvd-burner, keep your IDE Harddrive which you will be burning from, and your burner on the motherboard IDE channels. PCI IDE Controller cards will be able to handle only one 4x burn, or possibly one 8x burn if the data is moving from the IDE Card to the onboard IDE. For those with multiple dvd-burners, for 8x burns, you'll need one HD for each burn. Otherwise, you will get bufferunderrun.
Regarding hacked firmware for DL. Yes, they do exist. The one that I can confirm is the one for the NEC ND-2500a. Dual layer dvd-rs're still too expansive. 15 bucks for a pop. DVD-9 are actually only 8.5GB. Be aware of that fact.
If you wondering what my setup is for me to come to this conclusion, here it is.
AMD Athlon XP 2600+
2x 512MB PC2700 DDR RAM
KT333CF based motherboard
Primary Master - Maxtor 160GB 7200RPM 8MB Cache
Primary Slave - NEC ND-2510a
Secondary Master - WD 160GB 7200RPM 8MB Cache
Secondary Slave - NEC ND 2500a
IDE CARD Primary Master - WD 120GB 7200RPM 8MB Cache
IDE CARD Primary Slave - Seagate 200GB 7200RPM 8MB Cache

Microsoft published on Tuesday a patch for a major security flaw in its software's handling of the JPEG graphics format and urged customers to use a new tool to locate the many applications that are vulnerable.
The critical flaw has to do with how Microsoft's operating systems and other software process the widely used JPEG image format and could let attackers create an image file that would run a malicious program on a victim's computer as soon as the file was viewed. Because the software giant's Internet Explorer browser is vulnerable, Windows users could fall prey to an attack just by browsing to an untrusted Web site.
The severity of the flaw had some security experts worried that a virus that exploits the issue may be on the way.
"The potential is very high for an attack," said Craig Schmugar, virus research manager for security-software company McAfee. "But that said, we haven't seen any proof-of-concept code yet." Such code illustrates how to abuse flaws and generally appears soon after a software maker publishes a patch for one of its products.

question here concering those using firefox as a web browser. it is a GREAT browser, much better than IE. but the thing is, is there a way to empty out the cache and or the temp internet files in FF?
In IE, you right click on the icon on the desktop and then properties come up. on the general tab, you would click on the "delete files" button to take care of the temp internet files, and then you'd click on the "clear history" button underneathe to clear the cache. Is there this equivalent in FF? _________________

Tools->Options->Privacy Clear cache, history, cookies, etc.
As for me, I'll like to recommend foobar2000. It's a fast audio player (mp3 and many other formats). Many functional features, many more with plug-ins like shuffle between albums, shuffle within albums, etc. I've never used winamp since. Give it a try.
