use this hand gesture: open palm, facing up. use this gesture to point at the person you want to ask and say:
nihonjindesuka?

I think you forgot that it was a tag-question because Helene probably already guessed this person was japanese, so:

sumimasen, anata wa nihonjin janai desuka?

hehe , non non non, au contraire mon ami, le "semi-bow" n'est pas pour le demander. Le "semi-bow" est pour "arigato" ou "gomenasai". Quand vous demandez: "anata wa nihonjin desu ka", vous devez hocher la tête un peu, comme ça ~ hehe (mais sans la sourire).

actually, i meant the head movement, but didn't know how to decribe it in detailed french, so i just went with the semi-bow. (i had fun practicing by bad french here, it's been years... Bleah )

We were talking about the same thing after all, Smile. Wakarimashita. Question: Doing a semi-bow with one's head, will it help lose weight in the face area? hehe

Why not save space and bandwidth when basically questions within the same criteria could be compiled into one thread?

Slow? Yes, but from my experience, users who only make one thread asking for help only want an answer to one question. After the answer is given, they usually don't reply. And when they do, it's just reply with a simple "Thanks" which pretty much makes the thread a waste of space. Now why not make that into just one thread? You'll be suprised how many "one particular question" will come up in a month's time or two.

So my question to you is why is consolidation such a bad idea?
I see it more as a benefit.

hi there Big Grin

I see some people are so nice that they are willing to spend their time helping others translating. To be honest,i'm too learning japanese,i just can read those basic ones but i don't really know the meaning, and it's very lame of me,sigh Sad .

Oh,back to the topic,i've watched an anime called MADLAX,it's nice and i quoted some verses and wanted to translate in kanji,if possible, type down the romanji as well(i'm fussy!).Or 1 people can do the kanji and another person do the romaji part, please help if you are free enough yeah! Bleah

1)To be in this world does not necessarily mean you exist

2)to live does not necessarily mean you alive
______________________________________

3)That is why i am dying in this world

That's all...

And i need some help here,i'm using modzilla firefox for normal browsing and it seems that it cannot detec and recognize asian font characters...does anyone using firefox here experience the same problem?

And for those already mastered japanese people out there, what do u need to type japanese? i'm using NJ star but i still think it doesn't really serve good to me.Maybe im' wrong, cause sometimes i don't know whether i should choose kanji or hiragana.

I do see some thread and the post says that there's some program that can tell you romanji and kanji at the same time, something called kakasi...is it easy to use?

I still does not really trust translation like altavista babelfish.I may comes out corect sometimes, but still,i think it's kinda weird.
can someone correct me regarding the stupid translation i made?

i intended to try no.3(that's y i'm dying in this world)
炱̐E͎͎˂ (just based on what i hear) horrible translation ever!! Nut

Something i've always been thinking of,i always listen people say "watashi wa" but then the kanji is instead of
,why is that?

also i thought vmean "you" what's the difference of ȂandN?The translation turns out "thinking"Actually the kanji v mean "think" in chinese...Or am i wrong for all this world?

 ǂ肪Ƃɂ肢܂(again,a bad translation)

By the way,to those japanese music fans,do u know where i could search for kanji lyrics? Since it's no where to be found excpet for Ayumi hamasaki's lyrics.
Once again, sorry for the long-winded post nad ignore the eng error(mandarin is my primary language)

I would say "kono sekai de wa watashi ga shini iku". (sorry I can't type Japanese signs on this computer)

Does an explanation of this actually exists?! I don't know, never heard of one.

"Omou" means "to think", you are right. The difference between anata and kimi... anata is mainly used by women while kimi is used by boys. However, I don't get your association between "omou" and "anata/kimi" O_o Maybe you confused "omou" with "omae" which also means "you".

It's not wrong, but most likely you would say "Omae wa...". "Omae" is used more often than "kimi". It's more colloquial and used by boys who speak with friends or familiar people and the sentence you mentioned up there, is written in the way you'd talk to a familiar person. (don't know the english word for it, sorry hope you get what I mean ^^; ). "Kimi" itself is also used for people you're familiar with, but it's just... more polite.

kono sekai de wa watashi ga shini iku
A̐Eł́A킽ɍs

but i think the phrase should be translated as
A̐EŎɂȂ@

1. to be in this world does not necessarily means you exist
̐Eł̂́A݂ƈႤ

2. to live does not necessarily mean you are alive
̂́AĂƈႤ

that's the best i can translate.. Sweat i don't really think i am good.. but this is interesting Beaten
