Thanks kokuou-sensei. I actually used g-mark's suggestion. My penpal has been helping me with my writing (thankfully, her English IS much better than my Japanese, and she is very patient!) and she said that what I wrote there was perfect So thanks again to both of you

Like a lot of Japanese words "kara" has several different uses, so don't think everytime you hear it, they're saying "because" I'm sure kokuou or Izumigrad could probably give a better explanation.

Yeah, "kara" as g-mark said. It usually comes at the end, as in "aishiteru kara" - "Because I love you" (Line from Ai Otsuka's "Peach"!)

Also, don't forget that just "kara" alone is for verbs only. If you use it with a noun, you use "desu/da kara" (or "dakara," depending on your preference).

There's also "node" and many other ways of saying "because."

Yes, the grammar is always the hardest part. I usually know what words I want to use, but saying them correctly so I don't sound like an in-bred hillbilly is the problem. I would say you end up using kara a lot more than node Just follow cori's advice, and you should be o.k.

hmmm. I think what is weird is that it changes (grammer that is). And it is hard to know how to put things in order when in one sentence you would structure it differently from another sentence.
