SO they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, unfortunately most behold slim behinds and high cheek bones.. and consider it beautiful.
So I am just wondering, if anyone you knew decided to go out and get some plastic suregery done, nose, ears, breast, or liposuction. Would you encourage them to stay put and save their dollars? or would you go with their decision and say "whatever makes you feel more confident".
My personal opinion is ofcourse the latter, where if I know someone wants to "imporve their looks" I wouldn't sit there and lecture them. What are you thoughts?

i only believe plastic surgery is needed if your face is seriously disfigured.. also with the quantity of make up nowadays you don't need plastic surgery to look good.. Rolling eyes

My vote was: Only in serious cases.

but if the person in question is having serious inferiority complex because of his/her physical appearance, then I would not object to him/her going for plastic surgery... if it would effectively boost his/her confidence and get rid of the inferiority complex.

I say yes. if you have enough money to do it, why not? but at the same time be adult enuff to know when to say when. it is rather un-natural for a senior citizen-ish person to want to look like they are 20 again.

hypothetically, if i lived in society where people werent judge for their looks, then yes i'd probably be happy with myself.
yes plastic surgery is vain. but i wouldnt judge. human beings are cruel. we set such high standards and thin out the herd. i'm not saying i condone surgery just because youre joan rivers or if you have low self esteem, we just have the power to control our happiness (as wrong as that justification sounds).
and because i'm bitter and female, i'm gonna scoff at "natural beauty" for a sec. i'd like the commend those born with it and applaud those who are able to create the illusion of it.

I voted "Only in some cases where the victim is serious burns or scars". I voted this because I too think that natural looks are always the best. Besides plastic surgery looks don't last forever! People do get old. And also, I think that getting plastic surgery will "sometimes" make ppl less confidence, always wondering whether other ppl can tell they had plastic surgery done, and also wondering if others like them for their looks or their true personality. (btw, this does not apply to everyone) This topic reminds me of the Jdrama Seikei Bijin. Big Grin

I don't have a probelm with plastic surgery. I want to get some done after I graduate highschool Mr Green My mom got her boobs and her tummy done last week and she called me and she said that she's got this tube in her where all this blood and gross stuff pours into a little bag and she has to empty it out everyday. That's soooo nasty, but she says that it's worth it.

Sweat Hey ... A person isnt happy with themselves let them be happy ... Better then them killing themselves over something that stupid .... which would bne kinda .... sad. But n e way, If the person has the money and they wanna get it done then let them, nothing wrong with a person being happpy. Though if they put themselves in danger or others in order to be "beautiful" then thats a whole diffrent story ^-^ Mr Green

I see this topic around a lot of forums Wink I have mixed feelings about it. If it were me, I wouldn't get any plastic surgery. It's expensive and risky, and the after effects are pretty painful, from what I hear. I've seen too many shows about freak accidents that happen to people as a result....and they can't ever fix you again if they mess up. I've seen shows where they do plastic surgeries, and they look so painful Google I don't knock people who get them for good reasons, as long as they don't overdo it (like going from an A cup to a FFF cup, then getting their nose done, then a facelift, then getting the boobs done again cuz they aren't "big enough", then the nose again....see where I'm going??). I also think they shouldn't try to front like they got nothing done. Just admit it and be proud if that's what you wanted!

As for breast implants in particular, I just don't trust it for safety concerns. Plus plastic surgery hasn't been around long enough to show what happens when someone has it for many many years and if things can happen later. Remember how maybe 10-15 years ago they said silicone breast implants were completely safe? Then people's implants leaked into their bodies and they were poisoned. Saline isn't safe either, but that's what they use now! They claim it's safe, but it's not. With the body being 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit against saline, bacteria grows on the inside of the implant after a couple years......I've seen pics: it's scary and disgusting-looking to see (it's green and brown and stuff). So what happens if they leak or have a puncture? That can't be safe either to have old salt water mixed with bacteria leaking into your body. I always thought of this: What if someone with breast implants gets into a car accident and is thrown against the dashboard, windshield, or steering wheel? Is that enough impact to break them? Scary....

I think things like calf implants are just dumb, though.

I also think it's ok as long as it's not overdone and ridiculously unnatural looking. I'm especially for it if it's helpful for someone that is disfigured for some reason or have pain (scars, burns, mastectomies, breast reductions, deviated septums, etc.). For me it mostly depends on the reasoning. Don't do it to please and conform to society, do it for yourself. Be honest with yourself first and do thorough research on procedures and doctors without jumping in too quickly.

I'm willing to say most actors and actresses on top of the J-ENT scene have accentuated their looks with cosmetic surgery.

I have no problem with much of it. I have many friends who have had such surgeries... although, 99% of the time, I frown on breast implants.

If my GF wanna get one, I'd say noo. But if it's me who got the chance, well...if the case is afree of charge and guaranteed to your satisfaction, I'll do it.
