I guess when I was so hardcore on cleaning out crap there, I missed some threads. Niko and I cut 6 pages worth of stuff out and then I was burnt out Sweat

Thanks for moving the thread to the proper forum. I asked this waaaaaaaaaaay back when I first started the thread, but at the time no one was moderating the Buy/Sell/Trade forum.

Anyway, I'm right now working my nights on episode 4. I have the first 15 minutes done, but unfortunately there's about 45 lines that need further translation. By the time I'm finished with the first pass, I'll have about 200 lines or so that need translation. FUJI-TV/NGN really chopped the hell out of this episode when it aired on NGN. And also I'm learning more and more about subbing in general, so I'm starting to become much more critical on the timing and to catch those other blurbs made by the characters that weren't otherwise subbed by NGN. And, based on a tip by KouSeiya315, I'm now closing my eyes as I listen to the audio so I can get the timing down a lot better. Before, I was doing the timing visually. But as we're working on Imouto yo, I found out that using just the audio portition is better.

So for those of you who helped me with the previous episodes, I can definitely use your help once again to watch a beta copy of the episode to point out any mistakes and to further translate those missing lines.

it's alright kouseiya315.. you are a super moderator! do you mod over at d-addicts too? i noticed you were modding over at jtv forums. workaholic! hehe

groink:
yah timing with the audio is much better, also in sub station alpha the actual sound waves are shown, so its about half and half. both visual and audio. its only hard when you have to translate signs or other non-audio related things.
another handy tool for editing subs, is subtitle workshop. its really simple, and you can also output to many different subtitle formats.
if you need help with translations, i could help out, i also have a native japanese speaker im working with for gokusen, so im sure he can help out a bit. Bleah

45 lines?? WHOA! LOL. I must say that's much worse than what we're up against for IY ep 1 Nut That might require combined effort Beaten As for timing, yes, since I'm used to timing by audio and using SSA, that was why I rec'd SSA for IY. As amrayu said, when timing is done in SSA, you can see the sound waves put up there, so it helps when narrowing down timing of a new conversation after a bout of silence. However as we discussed in IY, a visual test is still needed after timing by audio. Then tweaks can be made in case the line is very short.

Yeah, I have Subtitle Workshop too. I haven't played with it at all, but I had NO CLUE how the timing is worked in it. But I guess I could find out after more playing. So still, I rely heavily on SSA.

No d-addicts modding for me! hehe I think that would involve me and ؕ because of people not searching or reading directions/rules. Yeah, I became mod at Jtv about a month or so after starting here. It was kinda random actually....and unexpected because, uh, groink probably knows why Sweat There was a bit of ruckus I was involved in somehow Mr Green

It's really not much work, but the criteria for handling threads is different from here. I have 2-3 other mods helping and it's mostly low traffic. Almost anything flies there. As long as there aren't hardcore flame fests, we leave things alone or just move threads. So it's mostly answering questions and moving posts, but much less often than here. And usually the never-ending questions (when is ____ gonna be released?) usually get handled by the staff, before or after mods comment. It's almost "anything goes", which I like, but many are intimidated by that since a lot of yelling at people goes on. rofl

Episode 4 should be arriving any day now... There's still 96 lines of dialog missing from the NGN subs that need to be translated.

In the meantime, I made a snapshot page for episode 4... Enjoy!

Okay, kids! It's that time again... Time to play "translate Chinese to English"

Out of over 1000 lines, there are only 23 lines that I still need help in translating. So what you'll see in the 23 images below are screenshots showing the Chinese subtitles. You'll notice that on each image, I've labeled then with a number (0001, 0017A, etc.) All I need to know is what they say in English. Then from there, I'll add the English text to episode 4 and we're all done!!!! A good format to use is something like this:

0001 - xxxxxxxx

0002 - yyyyyyyyy

Contributions that I find of use will be mentioned in the dedication credits during the opening theme. Well, here goes...

Thanks, Amika!!!!! Yeah, you won't be left out! Smile

I'll make the additions later on tonight, then spend the CPU's evening and whee hours of the morning ripping.

As of right now, I'm actually thinking of releasing episode 4 as DivX5/MP3 (640x480) instead of MPEG-2 like the previous three episodes. I've experimented with converting the DivX5 capture of ep4 to MPEG-2 (TMPGEnc Plus 2.5), just like how I'd imagine several people would be doing it. The outcome came out really clean for SVCD standards. So I think it's pretty safe to try DivX5 out in this episode to see how the community reacts to the playability, size, and quality. If the idea fails soon after, I'll release a MPEG-2 SVCD rip (ripped from DV Phase II).

LOL, actually groink slipped in one that I had already translated Sweat Kazuya is asking Koume if Koyuki has her period (because she was pissed off), not asking Koume if she had her period. hehe What I couldn't get was line 78, couldn't hear it well.. Sad

groink, whichever ones you may have left with rough translations, if you need me to take another look at them with the video so I can pull things out better, send me the info and I'll re-review... Sweat For some things, if I can't hear them, knowing the context of the sentence will help me pull the needed things out of the dialogue... Nut

We are working on it. I got the second dr. and uni name. But I can't quite get the first set. Sounds like the first name was "Yuami-kun", which is kinda....unusual. The uni name sounds like something ending with "gado" or "kado". This is one time I wish I could read Chinese!
