That's where the "Okinawan Pride" will prove otherwise.
Everyone says the latter, but Okinawans are quick to disagree.
(Quick history lesson here)
Especially since we had our own kingdom before Japanese rule.
Not to be mistaken with Japan, Okinawa was their own kingdom before.
Only recently had it became a part of Japan. But the "old frame of mind" is that Okinawa is it's own country.
Another similar example would be that of Taiwan and China.

Cool, you learned something new today!
Okinawa is a part of Japan now. So in essence, we are considered Japanese. But Okinawans still say they are Okinawan (and not Japanese) whenever the chance presents itself!
I don't know whether the new generations think the same though.............
I have influence from my family (ie: Grandma and aunties and whatnot) who migrated to Hawaii from Okinawa.
So I'm not sure how old that sort of thinking may actually be. (I'm already a 4th generation Okinawan/Japanese already.. ) _________________

I had that one, and I was gonna post it. But at the time, I was on dial-up, so uploading it would've taken forever and I didn't want to go throught the hassle. Only Rina is worth waiting 10 miuntes for a picture for.... _________________
