i think yamapi is like a toy for the old man. he kept putting yamapi in different groups, duo, and solo.. just to make more money out of pi [which sure was a success].
i will be really glad to see yamapi pairs up with toma, but i do understand why so many NewS fans wont agree with this.

Tomohisa Yamashita of NEWS has been given his first starring role in a movie. The film is based on the "Kurosagi" drama series that aired on TBS last spring. Yamashita and several others, including Maki Horikita and Yui Ichikawa, will reprise their roles from the drama. Yasuharu Ishii has been named as director, and the film is slated for release next spring.

I loved reading the small "debate" of TomaPi vs NEWS. I love NEWS, and I love Toma. From the perspective of someone who loves NEWS, I wouldn't want anymore separate units... from the perspective of someone who loves Toma, a TomaPi collaboration would be wonderful and, without a doubt, would probably sell more than any NEWS release ever could sell. (Which, as a NEWS fan, could be seen as dangerous and as a sign that the existence of NEWS is not needed. On the other hand, the existence of NEWS itself was at the expense of others, and if they're not making that much money anyways.... oh, arguing both sides can lead you to suicide ) It's probably a tough situation for anyone, but, let's all wait until the rumour is actually confirmed and we've all heard the song before making any judgement.
I, for one, was deadset against TegoMasu (especially after the joke that was Miso Soup) but, I've fallen head over heels for their song, Kiss~, and now have to eat my words... Well, okay, so this is a totally different thing, but, yeah...
On a not so different note, somehow, I'm not too excited about the Kurosagi movie ^^;;. Probably because I didn't like Kurosagi much, and I wasn't one of the many who were actually hoping for a sequel. The only thing that I liked about Kurosagi was Yamapi... take him away, and I wouldn't have watched it for the world . I'll probably still end up watching the movie, anyway . Congratulations to Yamapi, though, for finally landing a movie role _________________

hmm a little off topic, but i'm just curious to know. Is it common for official group releases to do less well than releases by smaller groups within that same group?!
Say for yamapi, it's obvious that his solo single did so much better than any of NEWS' releases. Does that mean many of yamapi fans only support him when he has a solo release? Why not support NEWS as well since yamapi is in it? I just don't understand the great difference between sales and why

Well, the other reason I think Daite Senorita did so well was because of Kurosagi. But yeah, been wondering too. I mean Tsuyoshi & Koichi Dohmoto singles sales are lower than when they are as KinKi Kids, which means fans love them as KK more than as solo artistes. But does this mean that fans actually like Yamapi more when he's solo than when he's with NEWS?
Anyway, half of Daite Senorita's sales is probably also generated by the casual dorama fans. I wonder how he would do if there's no tie-in whatsoever... _________________

Well, my thoughts are that there are fans who prefer Yamapi solo and not tied to NEWS. And they buy multiple copies of his solo release, while for NEWS, either they buy just one copy, or they just download the songs off the internet. It is puzzling because you'd think that fans of all eight combined would be larger than the fans of one person, but, fans of NEWS would almost definitely buy Yamapi's releases, but fans of Yamapi would not necessarily buy NEWS' releases. Liking NEWS means liking Yamapi, but liking Yamapi doesn't necessarily mean liking NEWS... I think . And of course, there's what WD said about Daite Senorita being the theme song for Kurosagi, and it was also his solo debut
If you ask me, I think that if Yamapi releases a single unrelated to a drama, although it might not sell as well as Daite Senorita did, it would still probably outsell some of NEWS' releases. Sign of instability of NEWS? Or of the fans? _________________

Let me try to answer this question:
There are so many possible reasons why Yamapi's solo single sold better than NewS:
1) It's special b/c it's Yamapi's 1st and only 1 solo CD so far, so worth to keep 1 copy
2) Drama effect......there are audience who are not NewS fans but watched the drama and love the song, specially those aunties and uncles who usually don't listen to teenagers' songs
3) Most fans are students who only get limited amount of money from parents, so they can't buy every single CD released, so they chose to buy some of NewS CD or just buy Yamapi's CD, whichever they like more.....
4) There are fans who really only like Yamapi but hate NewS, like the old 4Tops fans........
5) Simply b/c diff image btw NewS and Yamapi. NewS is young and fresh and some adults may consider them childish.....on the other hand, Yamapi's image in Daite Senorita is manly, mature, and cool. So it attracts older ppl or other types of ppl to buy the CD.
6) In NewS CD, Yamapi only takes up like 1/6 (or 1/8 b4 suspension) of the CD space. Like when you watch the DVD in his solo single, you get to see Yamapi all the time, but in NewS's Hoshi DVD, most of the time the camera is focusing on other members
7) There may be someone in NewS that some fans hate, so they don't want to buy the CD even though it has Yamapi in it. (That's why I didn't buy Seishun Amigo.....^^;
8) Most NewS fans are young children / teenagers who love dl online instead of buying CD

KUROSAGI THE MOVIE: CONFIRMED!!!!
Kurosagi will have a Movie. YamaP in his first Movie leading role.
Premiere will be Spring 2008
The one who filmed it said that originally he wanted to make a movie but it turned out to be a series. now it's gonna be a movie.
Pi said that he wished for a long time to be lead role in a movie. It was his first drama as lead role and now it's become a movie as lead role.
Lead role: Yamashita Tomohisa
Cast: Horikita Maki (Yoshikawa), Kato Kouji (Shiraishi), Ichikawa Yui (yoshikawa's friend), Tayama Ryosei (bald policemen), Okunuki Kaoru (waitress and dealer in the restaurant), Aikawa Sho (Police men who follows him), Yamazaki Tsutomu (the old man who gives info)

hmm yeah i think it should majorly be because of the popularity of kurosagi? Perhaps if any future NEWS singles are released and the song is used for a popular jdrama that one (or even better more than one) member of NEWS takes part in, it will sell better? Wait a minute, hoshi wo mezashite was used for happy feet, but it didn't really improve the sale of HwM much did it?
i'd love to see how a pi solo single that isn't tied in with anything will do.
i disagree with the part abt how fans of NEWS will most likely buy yamapi's single i didn't And i would have thought instead that fans of yamapi, if they are really crazy over yamapi, would want to buy whatever related to yamapi.
