I agree with Jac. Even JE is biased against the jrs that lack the looks. Everyone is, whether they know it or not. You see something that's easy on the eyes and it's instinct to look at it more. In the case of idols, that subconscious process of selection happens too. And a lot of fans do like a particular idol for their talents.

Of course, there're also fans out there who are shallow and follow idols solely for looks, and go totally overboard, and that's where I completely agree with your point. That kind of behaviour is wrong and totally unaccounted for, and that covers them going crazy when they spot an idol with a girl.

However, Littleangel91356, with the rushing to places where the idols will be, it's a kind of perverse compliment. It shows how much they support the idol, they're just expressing it the wrong way. And, contrary to the way it seems sometimes, there are many fans out there who like discussions just about their talents. But the fact is, most people would be disinclined to write a full essay every time they watch a show or look at a picture. And since they like the idol's looks as well, all that remains is the simpler "wow, he looks so hot!". These long discussions are fun, but many would prefer to talk to close friends about it, not in a forum.

I don't think idols cause the problem, really. It's more like how each individual fan express their support. Some do it right, some don't.

i agreed with Jac too...well so far i've never seen a William Hung(*no offence to william's fan*) in JE...so yup even they are biased with those Jrs who are not good looking...

Hm I think girls are attracted to kakoii guys easily, like "woo, this guy is so cute!!"
But to really like that person as your idol, I believe there need to be a certain talent of this particular person that attracts you.
like great voice, acting, dancing , hosting or a certain charisma...just something to make you really crazy over this idol.
Of coz I do think that there are still people that just look at the face and just love that idol....but it seems weird to me...

such comments given may be for fun but some of the fans really mean it..
And they will just start hating that girl for nothing...the very extreme fans..

Because to be a true fan you have to learn to respect the way your idol feels because there's nothing you can do about it. Ettoo... That essay.. Well I have nothing else to say than about the looks thing. I dont think ppl like JE ppl just because of their looks, its like the same thing if someone gets attracted to a person just because of his/her looks. Its stupid. I heard of NewS from a japanese friend long ago when NewS had became a group, but I didnt really pay attention to it first. Well when I started to listen other japanese music, and got a little bored of it and tried listening to NewS music before I saw any pics of them, and then started to look for pics and vids where I could get to know them better... Looks isnt even near the most important thing, but im sure it makes us adore a person more. Theres nothing better than a talended and gorgeus idol So to me its totally ok if ppl say that "OMG that pic is just so HOT!!!!!" Cos I do that a lot too Its what they think and what I think so.

Also... I would be very happy if Ryo, Yuya etc got a girlfriend, so I dont like the posessive fans who would ruin their relationships just because they think they own them just cos they are their fans. Its sickening But just like someone said, there might be a minimal chance that you got in to a relationship with an idol, but you shouldnt hope for too much. Daydreaming is totally ok! ^^

I've watched the Shounen Clubs I managed to get hold of, and I just love their interaction, jokes, performances, etc.

I also really like their music. And I respect them for their efforts in dancing, singing and personalities.

I think these "crazy fangirls"- they are fans, too... But in another way than you and I. Even if they annoy me and write these really annoying (in my opinion) things about "I own my Idol". They are (different liking) fans, so it's OK. They like their Idol just a way too much and
It's a little bit ruthless, because the Idols are humans like us and I think they wouldn't always be happy to read something like that! But as long as these are only words of the fans and they don't disturb the guys active it's OK. As long as they keep in mind that their beloved Idols are humans like them.
This "childish" love is also a bit of character thing. My friend is a little bit like that too and I can't get what's so great about being selfish, but OK... if they think it's fun to insult a girlfriend their beloved Idol chose.... There must be something great about these girls so the boys choose them.
I really don't understand the fans about that point.
But I'm happy they like the Idols.

And I think if it was only the looking thing they wouldn't be so fan like. You never like a person, when you think he/she acts like you don't like it. So also when they don't realize it I think they like them not only because of their looks You always like more than that!

Just like you, I heard their songs before I even saw them. I was at my friend Kelly's house and I was looking through all her songs on her comp. I saw this thing that said NewS and clicked on it, "Wow Kelly, I never knew you listenend to NewS. I was just about to d/l one of their songs before I came here." And so I listened to the song (it was the remix to Cherish) and right away I said, "Kelly I love this song!! GIVE IT TO ME!" Lol, it's funny looking back at it now , but that's how I got into NewS. When I got home I d/l the p/v to Cherish, that was the first time I saw them. To tell you guys the truth...When I first saw NewS I was laughing me head off . In my head I was like, "Ew, why are they wearing girly pink gloves? And who's their choreographer!?~He must have problems" But after a while I started noticing their looks... so looks isn't everything. It took me a while to notice it .
