busubusu is like grumble, grumble with a touch of the mumble mumble as in busubusu yuna - don't grumble.
butsubutsu is a more distinctive nuance than busubusu and is clearly a complaint that has been heard. It can also be used to refer to a skin condition that involves bumps as in hives/rash as in
akai butsubutsu ga dekiru - grow red rash
When spoken, the inflection will differentiate whether you are talking about a complaint or a rash.

The ending '' is NOT AT ALL limited to only 'women' and 'gays'.
You find both sexes end their sentences with '' in Kansai area for example.
'ႤI' (I) for example is a common everyday term I hear here in Kobe and Osaka.
So please be careful in your explanations everyone!
If I ever hear a guy say, 'ꂵ', he is gay. I'm not saying that wa is limited to females, it is just more feminine in nature. There are cases where it is ok for a man to end a sentance in wa, but not after ureshii.

Nismo, I don't want to sound harsh, but how ignorant can you be?
Japan isn't made up of 47 textbook-Japanese speaking prefectures where men aren't allowed to use 'wa' to end their sentences.
I've done my homework, you are studying Japanese at Sophia University in Tokyo. The difference in Kansai and Kanto dialects is so big that you are completely biased in saying:
"If I ever hear a guy say, 'ꂵ', he is gay. I'm not saying that wa is limited to females, it is just more feminine in nature. There are cases where it is ok for a man to end a sentance in wa, but not after ureshii."
I live in Kansai, and EVERYONE uses all the time. If you said to a guy here in Kansai, 'you use so you're gay' then you are most likely going to get your teeth kicked in.
I can only guess that you have heard many people say how much they dislike Kansai-ben over there, right? The same thing happens over here hey.. even my teacher will lecture everyone in the class about how much Kanto-ben sucks (in comparison to Kansai-ben). Kansai and Kanto are big rivals.. i'm sure you know that people stand on different sides of escalators in Kanto than in Kansai right..?
I've read your Japanese posts, and I can safely assume you know the grammar shortening of `Ă܂܂ to `.. that in itself sounds really feminine over here in Kansai, and a guy using it would be unheard of. So just realise there are differences in the language and don't go jumping to conclusions hey.
Oh yeah, before I forget, I'm sure you know all this '' ending stuff right? You're still going to argue that a guy saying 'ꂵ' is gay.. well, just so you know, I've heard many guys say 'ꂵ' but it is in a different context and tone to probably what you are assuming.
Just be careful.. like in the case of using / on the end of sentences too much.. over here in Kansai, it is very feminine, how is it over there in Tokyo? I'm interested in hearing your response. Catch ya.

If you heard a guy say, "oh - my - god, that is just sooooo fab!" in English, would you not assume he was gay?
I am familiar with kansai-ben as well, just not as familiar as I am with tokyo-ben. (nantoka yade, wakarahen, etc.) Only time I have ever heard any guy use the phrase, 'ureshii wa' was that one famous gay middle aged man that's always on TV, you know who I'm talking about - the one with the yellow glasses. I understand that they use "wa" in kansai, but do they use it coupled with, specifically, the word ureshii?
I lived in the Kansai area for a while (have lived in various places between Kyoto prefecture and close to downtown Osaka) and I think is more commonly heard from women then men...although I've heard plenty of men (non gay I'm assuming) use it so take that as you will. My gf seems to use it a lot, it is more of a region specific thing I'm sure. Also from my experience people from Osaka just plain think everything that people from Tokyo say is gay anyway hehe
Also where do you live Moccona, just wondering.. _________________
