Actor Kubozuka Yousuke reportedly quit from his talent agency last month, intending to permanently leave show business. Last autumn, Kubozuka began performing at local lives and school festivals as a reggae artist under the name Manji LINE, according to magazine Josei Jishin. It seems that Kubozuka may settle into the reggae scene, along with his wife Non-chan, a former reggae dancer.
Kubozuka's final project as an actor is his starring role in the movie "Ore wa, Kimi no Tame ni Koso Shini ni Iku," which opens in May.

His bad rep. got the best of him. Big producers don't want to take any chances and will get the "flavor of the month" from Johnny's instead. _________________

Hello.
I've seen quite a few actually during the weekend. The movie was released in theaters Friday. It's brand new.
It's a story about kamikaze pilots during WWII. ́AN̂߂ɂɂɂ is the original title. You can find lots of topics or you can also try the English title "For Those We Love", but it's kind of hard to find something about the movie in English. The only thing I was able to re-stumble upon this morning. here
Tu_triky sent me, a few days back, a link about Kubozuka. He talks about the movie and doesn't hold his tongue. Check it here _________________
hello again, tabana! goodness yousuke sure speaks his mind thanks, Tu_triky for the updates as well...
made a gif from the youtube link of the same movie..hope i haven't violated any copyrights..douzo..
still have to get used to seeing him not playing the lead or at least a supporting role with a strong impact
here's what i saw...he performed at long beach california along with other rap/reggae artists last march...i'm not quite sure if he was with a group or he performed solo..i was browsing thru the site and there were few announcement collaterals/posters

Damn, that's really heartbreaking to hear becus he is one, talented actor...(T_T) how come in Hollywood, bratty stars can get away with anything, but in Japan, they get slammed for not being the stereotypical, cookie-cutter idols >_<
Well, best of luck to him in his new endeavors.... _________________

Yeah. The sad part is in Japan, they usually don't mind when foreign actors do that. People still shows up in mass to see Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. Not really the best role models there are.

tag line was 'king of the party' or smthing like that..obviously taken from igwp's g-boys' king label
He could have been influence by it. BTW, thanks for the picture and link. As far as I know, you didn't violate copyright laws. I don't know if he played with a band or was solo, but he writes the name manji line with a swastika (a.k.a. Nazi symbol). It looks like swastika Line.

why did he commit suicide???
i heard that he's [or he was] taking marijuana
but does that have anything to do with his attempts???
I'm not quite sure. I know he had problems with work, but it could be more a personal problems thing. Maybe he was just stoned and he really fell. Looks like he's ok now tho. _________________

japanese fans rarely forget and they seldom forgive..i myself, don't normally support artists who have bratty /devil may care attitude towards anything but i believe that being what you are and not trying to be who you are is also good..am i making sense here? lol!...however, with youseke being one of the best actors in japan for me, i couldn't help but accept and embrace him for what he is. this guy is oozing with talent and whenever his in front of the camera, he doesn't act..he is the character that he plays ....lemme quote a blog i just read and i loved the way she talked about him, maybe because it mirrored the way i see him and feel about him....and i quote..
' Dear Yosuke Kubozuka, you belong in front of the camera, not behind a microphone. '
this line has somewhat sadened me, but i totally agree with her...if you're interested here's the blog i stumbled upon and the rest of the write-up.

Great link. The Britney Spears of Japan... I love that line. I couldn't have said it better. He is on a path of self destruction like her, but at least he's not trying to project a fake image of himself. Like many people, when I think about reggae, I think Bob Marley and smoking pot. It could be just a phase. He might get over it one of these days and hopefully sober up too...

Yes, you are very much making sense.

Looks like he'd do anything to shock. The guy is amazing. I'm not surprised he still has a lot of fans. Girls like bad boys, right? _________________

i don't want to sound prejudice here but i agree with you when you say bob marley and smoking pot and getting stoned fall into one box..sorry for reggae fans out there just my opinion..it's nice to think that his wife stood by his side after that eventful night back in 2003 ( or was 2002? ) but i'd like to think that after recovering from that fall he would have regained what he believe he might have lost before the fall. or guess he might have to go learn it thru the hard way..or ...its sad to think that we would never get to see him in front of the cam, acting or being the character that he is...i'm hoping that non-chan, together with their child would give him a new inspiration ....oh well..i'm blabbering here..gomen ne

My thoughts exactly. It should have been a wake up call... A big waste of talent here.

Apparently, it fades out during mid 20's when women looks for stability instead of a broken heart, or so I've heard. _________________

Film thoughts: "GO"
watched "Go" for the second time last night, and cried for a second time. yes, i cried. shut up. gets better and better.
when i first saw it last week, it instantly jumped into my top ten films list. a completely brilliant, touching, thoughtful, aggressive, tough, sexy, innocent, and fast film, "Go" asks the question of who an individual is, and begins with the "What's in a name? A rose by any other name would still smell as sweet" quote from Romeo and Juliette. the film centers around young Sugihara (Kubozuka Yousuke), who was born and has lived his life in Japan, but whose father is Korean. this is a touchy, and important issue here in Japan, and Kubozuka portrays a conflicted teen with some of the best acting i have ever seen. you see him and you watch his lips, you watch his eyes, you watch the way he moves, you listen to the tone of his voice, and you are convinced he is real. he is Sugihara. he did jump in a subway tunnel and outrun a train (incidentily, a wickedly cool, fast, shakey-cam, quick cut opening scene); he did get beaten by his boxer father; he did drop kick his basketball team; he did fall in love.

Thanks for the info. I've heard of Go, but I've never heard of amour legende before. I'll have to check that out. I found the official site. Everything is in English. The lead actress is Canadian.
