Hello. I always come to this site for J-drama info but I just registered today. Anyhow, I'm doing this report on Asian youth living in the United States and how they identify themselves. I'm assuming that most of the people here are Asian, right? Forgive me if I'm wrong. For those of you who are Asian or even part Asian, can you please answer these questions on how you came to associate yourself w/ Japanese/Asian entertainment such as Asian music/dramas/entertainers and other questions? I would greatly appreciate it. Being such a newbie, sorry to impose.

1. What nationality are you?
2. What is your age?
3. Do your friends consist of mostly Asians or Caucasian? And what nationality
If most of your friends are Asian, is it your preference or just because of where you live?
4 Do you feel a part of the certain Asian community you belong to?
5. Do you speak the languge?
6. When did you start liking/associating yourself with the J-entertainment or Chinese or Korean entertainment?
7. How did you start liking the Asian celebrities?
8. Do you feel a certain similarity/connection with these entertainers because of your ethnicity?
9. How has being Asian-American influenced your social life?
10. Do your parents socialize w/ people of your nationality or Caucasian?

Thank you so much for reading. Please answer wholeheartedly. The answers will be used in my paper so I hope you don't mind. Thank you!

1. What nationality are you? filipino
2. What is your age? 24
3. Do your friends consist of mostly Asians or Caucasian? And what nationality? If most of your friends are Asian, is it your preference or just because of where you live? no theyre different ethnics, but races isnt the issue, i used to have lots of filipino friends bec. of where i used to live.
but actually if you live in southern california, specially down in the southbay theres a huge population of different ethnic backgrounds, so im used to being around with a diverse crowd.
4. Do you feel a part of the certain Asian community you belong to? sometimes, but that depends on the place i live in.
5. Do you speak the languge? yeh, fluently
6. When did you start liking/associating yourself with the J-entertainment or Chinese or Korean entertainment? for a long time now.. i grew up watching animes and kung-fu movies, then i devotely started watching various things right after
7. How did you start liking the Asian celebrities? it al started from listening to music, im a music junkie and i dispised mainstream music so i went to a different direction and listen to something i dont understand lol then i got hooked! .. plus seeing them on tv.
8. Do you feel a certain similarity/connection with these entertainers because of your ethnicity? not really
9. How has being Asian-American influenced your social life? im still active with the asian community, cuz we had like friendship games in our school, its about encouraging interactions between athletes from different cultures; and they promote healthy and active lifestyles through participation in friendly sporting competition. i met a lot of cool friends and actually felt at home. then i continued on with my interest, it helps me get to know other cultures.
10. Do your parents socialize w/ people of your nationality or Caucasian? hardly, probably at work yes, but they mostly associate with their nationalities.. but theyre not racist, they just communicate better talking in our language.
