I moved! After 5 months in a miserable rented room, I took the plunge yesterday and moved to a small one bedroom apartment on my own.
I have no furniture and very little of anything but I'm thrilled to be out. It's a little scary as I'm making very little money and figured out that after rent and student loans, I'll only have about $800 a month to cover everything else (car insurance, health insurance, cell phone, internet, electricity, and food!). As if this wasn't enough, having next to nothing means I will have to buy all kinds of things - a bed, a table, a desk. All I have in the way of furniture right now is a computer chair (my computer is currently propped up on boxes). So.. it's going to be a difficult time, but I'm ready to do what's necessary to make it work.
Amazingly, I'm 28 and this is the first time I'm really on my own from top to bottom - Everything I will have in my household will be mine. It's a good feeling. _________________

Omedetou! Just remember, there's nothing wrong with having "early garage sale" style furniture.

Good luck. Soon enough I hope to have the same feeling you have right now.

Omedeto gozaemasu!
I was in the same situation when I moved out at 30: I had a card table, a desk, one chair, a beach chair, a 13" TV, and a single bed... And I had to immediately run out and buy a fridge and washer/dryer.

That's gonna take a bit of time.
Yeah..that's why I allocated that step nearly two months - it'd give me a chance to run through some of my queued dramas while i'm doing it _________________

Sugoi! Congrats on the move. Were you living at home before? And wow, you're 28? I thought you were a lot younger. _________________
