I suppose if you're gonna have unagi, then the place to have it would be Osaka. |
Hehe. I am sure if you were in any major city in Japan though whatever was on offer would certainly satisfy us who hail from the other side of the pond.

Dayem, it was the best though. |
Is it really the best unagi youv'e ever had or could it possibly be tainted by the fact that you were in Osaka?
I've always wondered about comments like that... Mind you, it's not a knock, but to a untrained lay person like meself, would I really notice a taste difference?

That is a fair point. Of course getting caught up in the moment one may be biased as you suggest...but I felt the eel was just a better "eel" and more expertly prepared. It was definitely more unctuous and fatty than the unagi I've have over here and the smokiness of the eel being cooked on a wood fire girl (probably binchotan or something similarly extravagant) really imparted a flavor that I had never tasted before in an eel dish. Moreover, the chef got the outside so crispy that it really complemented the juicy moist interior of the meat.
May the eel slither the waters for future tasty delights.
Unagi man out.

Does that mean a real dog or cat? |
Nothing that glamorous.
Parts of NY's finest rats etc is more likely. _________________

Dayem... That's a description I can visualize and relate to.

Not at all! That wasn't my intention. I just wanted to convey that it was a different experience than I've had here in the States, eating unagi. You, as a fan of Dotch, know very well about the fanaticism with which food is prepared in Japan.
Moreover I remember posting this blog post about how unagi is prepared differently in Osaka than in Tokyo...some ridiculously nuanced thing where the aficionados can argue about the finer points.
For my gimp a$$ coming from L.A...it was a superlative experience, suffice it to say.
Sorry for the off topic.
Fun chatting about this though

Thanks for the pass
All I gotta say is eating that stuff is a real treat, whether there or here (at home, in L.A.)

DO you want to stay in a capsule hotel?
I thought the beach place you were going to looked a bit more comfortable. _________________

LOL no, not the Capsule Hotel part.
Hey krim - there was an article in the Sunday paper about your favorite Youtuber Nat. Apparently she's the #1 Australian video poster.
