Last Wednesday I went to the LA Opera for my first time to see Italian composer Puccini's Japanese tragedy, "Madame Butterfly." It was wonderful. Kind of ironic my first experience at the opera happens to be the one of a Japanese love story. Go figure.

Cool.
Yeah, it really was. My first time inside the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. She's a grand ole dame that still has legs. Cool stage with "supertitles" above to provide English translations for all the sung Italian dialogue. Originally performed in 1904...I felt connected to an opera that has been performed for over 100 years. I thought that was really cool.

I saw it as a teen with the NY Opera (school field trip) and didnt care for it at all. Nap time full on. Probably too young to appreciate it.
