Today (Wednesday) is my first day back to work after twisting my back on the slopes of Squaw Valley on Saturday.
Ouch.
I remember the painkillers they gave me when I was in the hospital...I fell asleep and didn't wake up for a good eight hours, even when the rescue helicopter stormed over the building and woke my roomates up. _________________
O.K. here is a question for you bmwracer? Why is it when I clicked on Quote in your last post to me, I only got your last 2 comments in Quote form? Should I be asking you these questions in a PM? Now that I know how to figure out!!!
It's not a bug, it's intentional to keep down the nesting of quote after quote...
IMO, I think it's a mistake and it causes problems like what you just stated. It should be at least two or three deep, but I'm in the minority on this...

Well it seems that millions travelled to Rome to pay him respect, pretty amazing... on the other hand I hope they elect a new one soon and get over with it. It's really tiring to see nothing than pope on every tv channel.

In my local newspaper, the Press Democrat, they showed a picture of a Japanese Catholic in prayer during mass after the pope had died. I thought it was kind of strange, since Christians make up less than 5% of the Japanese population.... _________________

Maybe. If Christianity had flourished after the Tokugawa, I doubt it would have ended up in a form recognizable to most Christians then or now. It's been a historical trait of the Japanese to make things their own. Many Jesuits lamented "rice Christians" who joined the church but continued to practice various shinto rites. _________________

Hmmm...you know, I'm not sure about that. I'll have to poke around. I would assume that south-west Japan might be more heavily Christian than the rest of Japan. However, I'd think there'd be sizable populations in the major cities too, especially Tokyo. _________________

I've heard that for years. There was even a documentary on the Discovery channel about it.
But what very few American Catholics realize is that the denizens of the Vatican view American Catholics in much the same light.
As far as they're concerned, Americans only play at being Catholics, they (we) don't quite get it... and American Catholics are a problem.
I wonder if that makes us hamburger catholics? _________________
