Considering that Sakurai is his name and Sho is the family name (like Lee, Chan, Tan etc.), Sho-kun would be more formal XD I think because it's simpler shorter that people are more used to calling him that.

I remember an N no Arashi segment where a written letter called Ohno 'Satoshi' and he immediately knows that it's a set-up. Hee! Satoshi sounds so formal.

No, I haven't seen Yoiko no Mikata yet. That's actually what I'm gonna start dling next. I've been told that even without Eng subs it's still a fun to watch Sho-kun. He's really expressive in his face, even if he's acting kinda goofy!
I have the Mago Mago episodes with Ohno, Jun, and the oba-chans and the latest ep with Ohno & Nino. I'll start uploading them now. (It may take me a little time, b/c some sites haven't been liking me lately Bang Head .)
I've never seen that Nurseman Special with Sho-kun. I'm really curious to find out what that's from now.

Thanks bella w00t!
I haven't watch Yoiko Mikata myself, but still it would be a lot better understanding what he's talking about...
Fingers crossed Fingers crossed Fingers crossed
Hopefully there's a dedicated Sho fan with excellent nihongo subbing it right now...
If only i learn japanese Bang Head

Hmmm...how many episode is the Nurseman special? (1?)

Yes, I wonder about this, too. Is there any particular reason or is it because their names sound nicer with 'chan's rather than 'kun's. Well, to me at least. XD

-kun is usuallly used for men/boys who are younger or the same age and can be for given or family name. young boys are also called -kun by their peers/social superiors.

-chan is usually used when the given named is used; male or female (boys call their girlfriends with -chan too LOL!) a close/intimate relationship, -chan is often used.

It just depends on the person speaking and who they're speaking to..

Ex, If I were male and he were my friend and younger or same age - Aiba-kun, Aiba-chan ; most likely chan as it is more playful and doki doki than -kun, but thats me as a female talking now LOL

Im just babbling now, because frankly its subjective, so I guess whatever flows, depending on your relationship to the person and social guideline (ie..avoid demeaning others and seeming rude)...

I'd say it's probably mostly because -chan sounds nicer with their names, (though Oh-chan is more of a nickname cause when they use his full name they usually call him Ohno-kun) and -chan's also more diminutive and affectionate sounding, so -chan suits Aiba and Ohno cause they're pretty silly and boyish, ne?

Have you noticed Aiba calls Sho 'Sho-chan' a lot of the time? Kawaii ^_^

Riyeuu, u have it completely wrong. Those are their surname/family name. People sometimes use Jun and Sho because it shorter/easier to say.

EDIT - oops i guess i am the one in the wrong. gomenesai

Don't go telling me MATSUMOTO is a first name and not JUN! o_O

Ne, I used to take Japanese lessons and my teacher added a 'kun' after my name. She said it's a term used for those younger than 15. Well, of course, there are other times to use it as well. =P

But in magazines, their names are usually written "Sho Sakurai", "Satoshi Ohno" and such. Maybe this is what confuses people. =/

japanese say first their family names and then their given names, thatLs the tradicional way (when written in kanji they should always be listed like this), but in magazines, for example, when they "romanize" the names, they sometimes put them the way we use in western countries: given name-family name.

But for our guys, their given names are: Satoshi, Kazunari, Masaki, Jun and Sho; and of course the other are their family names. You can just listen when they introduce themselves, they (referring eachone to himself) will say always their family name (Ohno, Aiba, Ninomiya, Matsumoto, Sakurai), because thatLs the formal and tradicional way to do it in Japan.

Just to add on to this. Japanese names are like Chinese names. Someone named Tan Ah Beng - Tan is the family name and Ah Beng is his given name or Kinomoto Sakura - Kinomoto is family/first name and Sakura is given/last name. Whereas if English names like James Brown, Brown is the family name and James is the given name. Therefore when you call someone 'Mr Brown', it's the same as calling Sho-kun or Sho-san (haha formal).

I agree with Deragoth that Jun and Sho are easier to call because it's shorter. Imagine screaming "MATSUMOTO" everytime.

EDIT: Eck! What me and tsuki666 said are very contradicting. Haha nevermind, I think the easiest way to know is to know what the rest of their family members are called and thus, you know what is their family name.
