I was looking through livejournal the other day and i stumbled upon a good translation of Nino's Konseki. I was listening to the song while reading the trans of it, and i almost started crying! its so sad T.T i think this person did a great job. I hope the translator doesnt mind me putting it up. Also while going through livejournal i saw yamete_evie's username, and saw her avatar, it said seme and uke, i was wondering what that meant, it sounds a little familiar to me, so if you could explain it to me that would be awesome

One more thing! i remember someone said something about viewing their .SSA files through notepad instead of watching it through the show. Well, i got curious and did that, and now, all my .SSA files come up with that weird paper + notepad as the icon! i dont like it liek that! does anyone know how i can get it back to normal? so that its the piece of paper + window w/icon looking thing (its the icon the computer puts on it when it doesn know what kind of file it is) ARGH, i cant explain things correctly... so meaning, when i go to -Open with...- it has notepad as a recommended program to use. does anyone know how to undo it? curiousity has killed me...

aino_hanako welcome! Those are nice wallpapers. I stole the Aiba and Sho ones (I'm an Ohno fan too but for some reason in that pic he reminds me of a girl I hated in highschool lol) I've been a JE fan for a year now and I've been heavily desensitized to the scaryness/weirdness, but yeah, I don't think it ever goes away. Which is good, cause it'd be a lot less fun if it did. Bizzareness is fun. (Some of it HAS to be there - like the gaudy concert costumes- it's just not JE without them) The stuff that actually still scares me is a lot of the Junior stuff - like old clips from when Arashi's boys were Jrs. Some strange stuff went on back then. And Shounen Club. Shounen Club is a terrifying show, yet I always watch it even tho I don't particularly like any of the Junior groups except for Kanjani8. What's wrong with me?

Arashi was the first Johnnys group I knew about (and is still my absolute favourite), and I resisted liking any of the others for a while cause I though the whole JE world was just about the queerest thing on the planet. (I was right, but it's a good kinda queer ^_^) Johnny-san's a genius for cross promotion though, so I got suckered into liking other groups eventually.
Without getting too far OT, are people here mostly just Arashi fans, or are some of us general Johnnys fans? This is Jdorama, so lots of us will have gotten to know Arashi thru acting roles, but did anyone get introduced to Arashi thru another JE group or start liking other JE groups cause of Arashi?

Weighing in on the hair discussion: Yeah, Sho needs a cut. His hair these days is driving me nuts. I rewatched the Sakura Sake lives a little while ago and his hair looked sooo good then. Dark, shortish, big bangs. Yum. Or, as AjiKan said, the way he has it in ainangst's siggy is perfect (I swear, that's just about the hottest pic of Sho I've seen ) I think Aiba's hair is perfect (as usual) Nino's is cute (yet, somehow, a bit feminine looking? Like Natalie Imbruglia or something) and MatsuJun's is looking good. I like Ohno with his hair brushed up off his face best - makes his face look a bit more slender.

Anyways... first question is- do they write their own songs? 'Cause I saw that translation of Konseki, and everyone was talking about how deep Nino is... so did he write the song?

Second question... is it normal for guys in japan to randomly touch each other (like that avatar of Ohno grabbing Nino's bum in a concert [sorry don't remember who's avatar it was ]) ?

Third question is about the topic being discussed here currently... what exactly is it about Johnny's group that scares you guys/you haven't gotten used to? (I'm only really familiar with Arashi)... like what is it that's so odd about them? I'm curious.

Don't worry about the baka-ness. I'm pretty new to all of this too. I got hooked on ARASHI just this past August also. And of course, I got MatsuJun in KWP and Gokusen to blame for that.

My Answers: (from what I've gathered so far)
1) No, the boys do not write their own songs (most pop acts around the world don't, as far as I know ). Nino is a special exception because he somehow got to write his own solo and I'm SO glad he did. I agree with AjiKan, honyakukonyaku was amazing in getting an in-depth English translation. I think he got to do this because Nino is very talented musically. Sho also generally writes his own raps now, but that's about it.

2) You must mean GacktSama's avatar, lol. (I remembered that on my own! ) It's pretty taboo here in America unless you're a guy who is being really really comical or just reallly.... gay. lol. But in Japan (and I'm not sure on this since I don't live in Japan) it's not as big of a deal. I think a main part of this stems from the fact that Japanese boys are too pretty for their own good and the shounen-ai/yaoi subculture going on behind that - fanservice is fanservice [er, AjiKan, I think I'll let yamete_evie PM you about the seme and uke stuff, ne? )].

Besides, I think the ARASHI boys are more comfortable with each other even more so than other JE bands. Don't you guys agree? Other groups may do it for fanservice, but the Stormy Boys are genuine brothers.

3) JE is an odd world because the of how huge it is and all the training and overlapping of members and doramas and performances the groups go through. These boys do everything from musicals to... USG! It truly is an unique entertainment empire unlike anything I've seen in the world (except maybe Morning Musume, which is like the same thing only for girls XD)

What I find most odd about the JE world is all the stuff that the poor boys have to endure. Like that one tv show where they all had to jump on a trampoline and try and bite a breadstick hanging 20 meters in the air, or climbing into huge shrinking balloons... Then again, that just might be Japanese Entertainment in general, not just Johnny's. XD

But have you seen the Suppin Concert? I rest my case.

go to tools, folder options , and uncheck "hide extensions for known file types" thnen go to your file and rename it whatever.ssa and i think that will change it back. make sure you recheck the box afterwards

as for seme and uke... *cough cough*

okay you know what yaoi is don't you? yaoi, the naughty manga of two men together? well in yaoi a pairing is described as seme and uke. seme means semeru- attack, and uke means ukeru- receive.

so in other words, nino is the one who attacks sho.... *giggles* in my opinion

honyakukonyaku is awesome! i saw her translation and it inspired me to finish my own translation of konseki and create subs for it! of course i think hers is better than mine and she explains it better, but i wanted to sub and i won't use another person's translation for that. just uploading the video now

LoL! Those clips were very entertaining. Especially the Entering a giant balloon one. I know it mustve been hard for them to do that, especially for Ohno who got stuck in the deflated balloon in a fetal position The breadstick one looked hard to do.. the "shot from above" camera gave an interesting angle though.

EDIT: lol! so thats what seme and uke means, lol thats pretty funny.

1. Well, Violomana answered this one
2. I agree with her also about this. In Japan is not such a big deal, I mean, Arashi boys doesn�Lt seem gay at all (at least not for me, but some friends think the other way... ) and when they play with each other like that it just shows they are truly friends and are having fun.
3. What I find the oddest in JE boys would be something good actually: that they seems to get along just fine. The different Johnnys shows like J Sports, Countdows, Shonen Club, etc.... in all of them and interviews, etc, the boys seem to be good friends in general which I find amazing being they all compite for a place in the very hard world of idols. I enjoy to watch all those programs because of that, eventhough I�Lm not fan of all of the other Johnny�Ls bands.

@aino_hanako Your wallpapers are wonderful!! Sho looks the best in that set I think, hehe. Ohno looks so funny, is it just me that thinks so?
