Actually its just for the sake of spotting the more active users first.. or is alphabetical better?

I think active users should be first because there are people who make an account and abandon their accounts. Those who are dedicated should be placed first... hehe Just my two pennies... Mr Green

At first I was leaning to the alphabetical order, but this explaination makes sense and I agree with Mr. ChoyBoi's opinion.
No sense having a bunch of inactive user' names pop up at the beginning of the list. IMO

Ok, dochira's first on the list now for obvious reasons. Thumbsup

hey bm, for now the only users deemed inactive are those who have been unverified for the past 3 months. Others remain in existence as there's always a chance that they'll come back some time later, though maybe never. But I'll leave the accounts there in case -- hardly costs anything anyway. Also, those users may be notified via email of any important JDorama.com announcements.

Thanks, BMW. I wonder if such a thread will need to be created since the birthday section has been added. Crazy And I found out that there are no artistes other than Tsuruta Mayu that share my birthday. But I already knew that. Sweat

Just wondering:

It would be nice to have a feature to search drama's by "viewership", since we already have the data in the dorama database, i guess upgrading the search queries to facilitate this feature should be manageable !!

for comparitively new people like me, i guess it is a good way to know about good dramas...

what do u think ??? Smile

Sounds good. Unfortunately our database is very incomplete in terms of the viewership ratings. Hence, the search would be rather unfair and inaccurate. To the unknowing user, he/she may assume that the results show all the most popular dramas (which in fact, most will be unlisted).

this was suggested to handle image intensive pages for non-boradband people

dochira wrote:

Hmm, you may be onto something yt. But it would involve changing the way pages are displayed. Maybe there should be a way to change images into a text link for those who prefer to conserve bandwidth. If people have broadband, they have the option to turn on full images...

i think it was a good idea.

maybe if a paramater is added to the user profile page about viewing preference in terms of viewing images or not!

then on the display pages a script can basically shuffle between the code as to show the image or just the text link.... what do you think!!! ... for now it is just a wild thought.

I had attempted that before, but the code wasn't as straightforward as I thought. Could look at it again next time Smile

Here's my wacky, not well-thought out, idea: Is it possible to replace the "[img]" tag into "[url]" based on the value of a flag?

i guess so, a conditional flag based on user profile paramters can be used. but i dont know what type of coding is done on jdorama. but i am sure genma must have thought of this. must be something more complex

Got a point there dochira. Just that there's additional processing involved. Best solution would to be able to intercept the BBCode parsing for IMG tags, and display them as < A HREF > IMG URL < / A > instead.

Haven't found that point in the code yet tho. Beaten

I was thinking if we could have a search function for topics within each category? Coz sometimes, I want to search for a particular thread discussing a dorama but when I type in the dorama name, I get lots of topics which may mention the dorama but do not discuss the dorama in detail. It then becomes a huge chore ploughing through all the threads to get to the real topic that discusses the dorama in detail. The same applies to J-artistes too... Victory! Peace!

Under Search, there is a section called Search Query. Here you can refine your searches by choosing a particular forum, whether you want the topic or the posts displayed, and other criteria.
