of course! i know you take the time to throughly explain things...that's a luxury for ppl like me who aren't currently being formally taught or tutored....ppl usually pay for that kind of instruction/assistance.

Hello mina (<- mina means everyone, right? Bleah)! I'm Norwegian, and my name is Julie, I'm pretty sure it means "youthful". Romaji, is that how one would pronounce the word? In my case it's 'juri-' , and "youthful" is 'wakai' is that correct? Then, would my Japanese name be Wakai, oorrr? Lol... And is Kanji the way to write the name? The Takase website also has something called Hiragana and Katakana... Thank you Smile

Your from singapore right? I am not sure but you speak tamil and chinese there, don't you? If your name is chinese or derived from a chinese name, you might want to look up the characters and use the same ones in Japanese.

As for translation, if you mean a translation by meaning `(which is generally not recommended for names) we couldn't help you without knowing the meaning. *Translating* in the sense of making the sound Japanese is called transcription i think. How do you pronounce your name?

Maybe a possible katakana version of your name would be "nurishakirin"@kVL. By the way, is this your given name or your full name?

Thanks! When I searched the Jdorama name list (found it after my original post Bleah), it gave me this:

W[ jurii (u) Julie

Is the above correct? Just because I'm curious, what parts of the Kanji are what? Like... W makes the sound --, and -- etc etc....

The above looks correct to me. It is in the katakana script (not Kanji), which is used to represent foreign words (amongst other things).

The sounds are:
W - ji
 - yu
 - ri
[ - (extends previous vowel sound)

Combined, W are romanized as "ju".
