Current updates
Do not expect 2nd ep till late spring, perhaps (my estimation) The translator is busy with other projects, he/she will soon get back to 101st proposal and the project shall resume as usual Smile I talked to a person who was behind the work. The conversation took sometime in December, pretty outdated source, hehe.

Tejizo,
My original thread on 101st Proposal got locked but I wanted to thank you for responding to my question about the artist in that program. Really appreciate it. Turns out I was right - Ishida Yuriko was in SOS and My Little Chef, both of which I've watched a little while ago. I knew I'd seen her in some other programs but I couldn't place her name, so thanks for helping me out.

My Review: 7/10

When I watched the first episode I was instantly hooked. I liked the eBeauty and the Beastf concept being introduced and I was instantly drawn to Hoshino Tatsurou (played by Takeda Tetsuya). He was so pitifully ordinary in his actions that I couldnft help but want to take him home. Asano Atsuko plays the beautiful Kaoru and although I thought she was appropriately cast, the character of Kaoru is what gradually decreased my overall enjoyment of the show. Kaoru is so insufferably annoying in her selfish, undeceive nature. I wanted to slap her every time she was on screen.

The plot was redundant. The misunderstandings were too repetitive, too short lived, and most were unnecessary. The saving grace for me was the supporting cast. For the first time since Lunch Queen I really enjoyed Eguchi Yosukefs character. Even his hair was forgivable because he played such a wonderful character! Tanaka Ritsuko was delightful to watch and her characterfs interaction with Yosukefs was grand.

By the end of the show I thought it was good, but it was a disappointment after my anticipation off the first episode.

Is it boring or not? I am interested but the plot seems to be boring.

Not at all!! I think every guy that's ever been dumped (which is pretty much all of us) can relate to Takeda's Tatsuro. Asano is one of those rare actors that can get her point across without saying a word, it had a great supporting cast, even Eguchi who normally rubs me the wrong way, was great. Applaud

Not late. Just a bit tardy.

And I liked stumbling upon Gaijinmark's & Wynter's comments tonight... after all this time. I haven't thought about 101st for a very long time. But it was the show that introduced me to Asano Atsuko, who instantly planted herself on my all time favorites list. And it was the show that let me see Takeda Tetsuya as someone other than the all knowing, all compassionate teacher of an endless string of 3-B classes.

it was a show I'm very pleased I got a chance to see.

g101st Proposalh being revived as stage play with same stars Takeda Tetsuya, Asano Atsuko
August 17, 2011

Itfs been 20 years since the original broadcast of the drama series g101 Kaime no Proposeh (g101st Proposalh), one of the most famous of Fuji TVfs popular gGetsu 9h dramas from the 1990s. The show is being revived in the form of a stage play, starring the same couple from the drama – Takeda Tetsuya and Asano Atsuko.

During its original run in the summer of 1991, the series averaged a 23.6% rating, with the finale reaching 36.7%. The show was also known for its theme song – CHAGE & ASKAfs gSAY YESh – which was #1 on the charts for 13 straight weeks and is currently the 6th best-selling single in Oricon history.

The stage version of the story, titled gJidaigeki-ban 101 Kaime no Propose,h will be a historical drama set during the time of the Kumamoto Domain. The plot will be very different, but the love story between Takeda and Asanofs characters will essentially remain the same.

The script is said to still be in the works. At the moment, there are only plans to perform the play at the Hakataza theater in Fukuoka in March 2012, but the production staff are hoping to perform it nationwide after that.
