I'm looking for dramas that are similar to Korean dramas--a grandscale romantic drama with a good plot. As far as I know, there aren't many Jdramas like that (with the exception of that Tokyo Wankei one that I've heard of; is that drama good at all?), so I hope you guys can help me out. _________________

Cool! I have that drama, but I haven't had the chance to watch it yet. I will be sure to do so as soon as I finish some other dramas I've been meaning to watch. Thanks! _________________

I'm looking for a good romantic comedy worth watching. I've seen the following:
Nodame Cantabile
HYD 1+2
Gokusen 1+2
Nobuta wo Produce
Star no koi
Train Man
Kimi wa petto
Preferably a romantic comedy in a high school setting, though not necessary if the story is solid.
Definitely My Boss My Hero. School drama with lots of crack moments & a bit of romance.
other school theme doramas worth watching, H2, Stand Up and 1 liter Of Tears (but its not a comedy)
The ultimate romantic comedy = Long Vacation. (couldn't help but pimp my all time favourite dorama)

My Boss My Hero, Nodame Cantible, Kimi wa Petto, Pride, Antique Cake Shop & Long Vacation. Its better if you be more specific on the kind of dramas that you like but do check out the dramas I've listed. Had lots of fun watching those.

I did a sampling of the notes on this thread (sorry, there are just too many to read all) and noticed that most recommended dramas are new. There are some old dramas that I think are still worth watching--good storyline and good acting. If you can get ahold of these, you should view them:
1) Virgin Road--Emi Wakui does a splendid job. One of my gf got so involved in this drama, she wanted to see the whole series in one sitting.
2) Koukou Kyoshi (High School teacher). Sakurai Sachiko put on such a believable performance, I wanted to protect her. Warning: this is a very dark drama.
3) Hitotsu Yane no Shita (Under One Roof). No great performance but a competent warm ensemble cast with a storyline that made you feel good.

Hehe thanks for the suggestions, but I did say the dramas I liked (look above hehe). Now if you mean genres, well I have many I like. But if I had to choose from a few then highschool/action/romance _________________

yup, I miss the "I liked" part and thought it was "i've watched". Gomen
Yup..if you had to choose only two from my list of recommendations it'll be My Boss My Hero & Nodame
Both are pretty popular (seeding well in d-addicts) & VERY,very GOOD.

Cool thanks, I noticed lots are recommending Nodame therefore, I'm downloading episode 1 right now to see how it goes
(Had to sign up to S project thought and stuff) but I bet is worth it _________________

I'm a fan of Aya Ueto, so I was wondering if anybody can recommend me another one of her series. So far, I've seen Kou Kou Kyoushi 2003, Hitonatsu no Papa e, Ace wo nerae, and Attention Please. I know about Attack No. 1, but I've just finished Ace wo nerae recently, so I want to put aside the sports drama for awhile. I'm looking for something funny like Attention Please or something similar to Kou Kou Kyoushi 2003 where love was one of the main themes.

Hello Everybody!
I have already watched a couple of J-Doramas, but to be honest: I find most of them either too "corny" or too silly. However, since they are great for improving my Japanese, I watch them anyways....
The only Dorama I really liked so far, was Kekkon Dekinai Otoko - kind of funny, relatively simple and nice story line and, of course, cute girls
So I was wondering if anybody could recommend something similar to Kekkon Dekinai Otoko that I might like.
