Mmmh possibly the mother of all school dramas GTO (one to avoid: S.O.S. - I believe 80% of the JDorama members will agree), a bit old but a classic in this "genre". I havenLt seen Dragon Zakura, Seito Shokun and the QueenLs Classroom but they are school dramas as well. Perhaps Waterboys I and II as it combines themes such as school, sports, teamwork, comedy, friendship ...

Last Christmas is a nice romantic comedy and has Tamaki Hiroshi from Nodame as a secondary character in it. I personally like Love Revolution a lot too.

Proposal is kind of nice, surely worth checking out - but itLs not on my personal top 3.

Dragon Zakura was rather interesting....in short 1 man tries to make a group of students from a school that scores very low attend his little program that will send them to Todai (Tokyo Daigoku/Tokyo U)

Seito Shokun is like......Gokusen in a sense because the teacher is a female, though she isn't involved with the Yakuza. Its a repetitive theme. Troubled students hates teachers and their homeroom teacher tries to help them. I'm only watching this because of Uchiyama Rina.

The one school drama I think that tops GTO is Kinpachi Sensei. It takes the whole idea of troubled students and actually makes it a serious matter. No comedy here really. The series that was up for DL at D-addicts was season 6 and 7. I saw season 6 only.

I say watch Kekkon Dekinai Otoko (Man who cannot Marry). Its rather funny. Great performance by Abe Hiroshi. Is a good romantic comedy.

Romance + School environment....I saw Orange Days is also a good one. A little heads up though, some people don't like Shibasaki Kou's character in this one because of her attitude, but I like the drama and all the characters

Its ok.

I've seen couple of cooking/food dramas

My Little Chef was pretty good, it was my first drama.

Current food drama i'm watching is Bambino. I think its pretty good too.

MLC was more french cooking i guess and Bambino is more Italian, so its a good change.

Just finished watching "Say hello to Blackjack" by Tsumabki Satoshi.. I say its a great medical drama as I learnt a lot about the real world in the medical/hospital line (e.g. why the hospital prefer to accept ER cases and its not because of challenging or life saving.. ).. The show just opened my thoughts and opinions.. Learnt much life lessons frm the show as well especially from the doctor role that Tsumabuki played. Recommended for those who are stepping first time into working world/new working environment!

Hey everyone! Well, I'm back from watching Nodame Cantabile, Kekkon Dekinai Otoko, and 5 episodes of My Boss My Hero that some of you have recommended.

Hmm.. My thoughts about Nodame Cantabile.. I really got hooked from the first episode though, but from then on.. it just wasn't what I had expected. I thought the show was alright overall.. maybe a bit too silly for me (esp. the roll of Masumi-san Shake Head).

And my thoughts about Kekkon Dekinai Otoko, I thought this show was gonna be sooooo boring based on the first episode. But as the show progressed, it got more interesting and I guess it turned out to be pretty good.

So far, My Boss My Hero has had my interest from the start because it's really funny and it does have some romance (though, not as much as I'd like). I'm really looking forward for the next episodes to be english subbed.

Well after watching these two and 1/2, I have nothing else to watch now and was hoping that you guys could give me some more reccomendations for some romance-comedy dramas! I'm really hoping for some good ones! Fingers crossed

Yeah, the Masumi character bugged me as well, but it didn't affect the overall goodness of this drama that I adore so much... Smile

THere are quite a few you might like to watch. My experience is also limited but here is what I would suggest:

Great Teacher Onizuka
Nodame Cantabile (comedy with a dash of romance)
Kekkon Dekinai Otoko (quirky romantic comedy)
Long Vacation (Romance with some funny parts)

Now that I think of it there have been very few jdramas I DONT like Big Grin
Start with those (some of my favorites). I tried to spread the years out a bit. There are a TON of good jdramas Smile

if you love romantic comedy drama with a twist of Anime figurines.. and a guy who loves to rant in a forum..

then.. you should try Densha Otoko Thumbsup

The first season was actually just uploaded and subtitled at d-addicts not to long ago. From what I've heard it's faithful to the manga and although I didn't read the manga myself I enjoyed watching it. It's structured like Trick where there are 5-6 cases and each case lasts 2-3 episodes. If you are a fan of those types of dramas you will probably enjoy it alot.
