Hi everyone! I've been looking for really good Dramas with music in it...with the main characters to have a passion in music and stuff..mostly guitar, piano or singing is what im looking for. So if anyone knows any good ones, please share! I would be so delighted if you do XD
I watched Taiyou No Uta, the drama and the movie and fell in love with playing the guitar and writing my own music now. I got inspired, and it's a really sad and touching drama.
So i recommend it :]
If you loved 1 litre of tears or love music, you should definitely watch Taiyou No Uta!

yup, if you want the singing, Tokyo Friends is perfect. but if you want 'music' you should try Nodame Cantabile

Hi everybody. I was looking for a more action oriented jdrama. Something along the lines of the movies Casshern and Shinobi. Or a more fantasy type of thing like Mushishi. And please anything with as little sugar-coating as possible Fingers crossed

Try Satomi Hakkenden, which I think was a mini series. It's very much like Shinobi actually, lots of sword fighting and supernatural elements.

Thank you all for your help. I watched the first ep of Galileo and I'll give it a try.
On a different note I was wondering why there are no ways to see dramas by genre. Every list a found about dramas always sorted them by name and never by genre. Is there such a list?

Hello everyone. I am new but I have been looking around for some doramas but I decided to ask instead of look for things that other people want to watch.

I really want to watch something like Densha otoko X_X

I already saw kekkon dekinai otoko (which was nice, but I want something closer to densha with the love in it Big Grin)

...so something like an average/below average guy falling in love with a good looking girl Big Grin (high school/college setting would be nice!)

and I couldn't stand nobuta wo produce! Bang Head

My top favorites:
Densha Otoko
Proposal Daisakusen
My Boss My Hero
14 Sai No Haha

and I already saw:
Suppli/Sapuri
Star No Koi (currently watching on episode 3 and meh)
LIFE
Orange Days
Swing Girls
Nodame Cantabile
Slow Dance
(I think thats it)

so onegaishimasu :'D

Can you read Chinese? If so, I know a site where there are lists by genre, though it's not comprehensive by any means.
I am not really familiar with english sites though.

If you're looking for something like densha otoko, I think akihabara@DEEP is the one to go for. It's about otakus and Akihabara. Mind you, I personally think the acting is not that great although the story is sort of entertaining. But there's no love involved.

(Sorry for posting in wrong thread previously.@One more try. I can't see the buttons, but I can see the task bar info.)

Can anyone name some kimono dramas? I'm am not particularly interested in modern series. Movies are also ok. Reply can be in English or Japanese, in romaji or /@. The more traditional / with dance / enka / other trad./old stuff, the better. Also, if there are any series or movies that a beginner would understand / learn from, please recommend. Thank you.

Also enka or trad. music as ST interests me, but is there a way to find out other than listening to all or asking the wise?

Hmm, do they make very many of those any more?

I think all of the dramas I've seen in broadcast were modern, the only exception being the NHK Taiga dramas... Sweat
