My first post on this website has to be on here of course seeing as I'm running out of good JDoramas to watch Or maybe I'm not but I'm certainly not finding them by myself. I just recently started to watch JDoramas in fact I got into them completely by accident whilst looking for Nana the second movie. I just happened to come across Tatta Hitotsu no Koi and started watching it. the rest as they say is history as i fell in love with JDoramas from there.

So heres my list of JDoramas that i have watched and I'm hoping you guys can suggest many more Smile

Ones that I absolutely loved.
Nobuta Wo Produce
Hana Yori Dango 1+2
Attention Please
Hanayome to Papa
Hanazakari no Kimitachi
Anego (the first half after that it started going downhill)
Papa to musume no nanokakan
Kekkon Dekinai Otoko
Lunch no Joou (the first half again after that in my opinion it started going downhill)
Tatta Hitotsu no koi

Ones that were OK
Pretty Girls
Brother Beat (i'm torn between putting this in the above category but i dont think it was as good.)
Kiken na Aneki (i kept getting annoyed with the evil mean brother)
First Kiss
Last Christmas

Unbelievably unbelievable
Kamisama mou sukoshi Dake (not only was the story line far fetched but the acting really got on my brain as well. it wasnt completely terrible to watch but i just pained me to see so many unrealistic things in what looked like a realistic drama.)

Ones that deserve their own category for greatness
Ichi Ritoru no Namida (not only was the story believable but the acting was amazing and certainly not over the top like in KMSD. It was just beautifully sad, touching and inspirational.)

Yoroshiku onegai ishimasu (I think thats how its spelled)

ooh and im currenty watching/started watching
Gokusen on ep6
Dragon Zakura on ep 5
Nodame Cantabile on ep 4
Kurosagi. on ep 3

I think someone mentioned some period dramas a page or two ago... Sweat

The only period dramas that I know of are the big NHK Taiga extravaganzas with oodles of stars, costumes, and set pieces... And they're typically 49 episodes... Sweat

Of those I've seen, I can heartily recommend Musashi... I've heard Toshie to Matsu is supposed to be very good as well.

Comedy and Romance?

I'd recommend Nodame Cantabile (no surprise Wink)... It's fun, slapstick at times (if that doesn't bother you), and lotsa great classical music... And a quirky little romance for good measure. Smile

Shinsengumi Keppuroku is also quite good, and much shorter than a Taiga(I think it was 11 episodes). Very "action-packed" and more dramatized than a play by play of historical points.

Hey everyone ! As you can see from my post count Ifm new to this forum. Ifve been watching asian (mostly Japanese) dramas for a good two years now and lately I feel like Ifve watched everything there is to watch, that is everything worth watching.
If anyone could recommend some good (preferably new) dramas Ifd seriously appreciate it, as none of 2008fs dramafs have particularly interested me, - the first episode of gHoney and Cloverh is a bit of a disappointment, and after watching the second episode of g1 Pound Gospelh Ifm starting to lose hope for 2008. Actually gThe Fantastic Deer-Man" looks good but I donft think anyonefs subbing it since I canft seem to find it anywhere. Herefs a quick list of some of the better dramas Ifve watched:

--> Hana Yori Dango (If you havenft seen this yet, be prepared to sacrifice the next 14-15 hours of your life, once you watch the first 15 minutes you wonft stop until youfve at least watched another 5 episodes)

--> Hotaru no Hikari (ahh bouchoucthis is probably my all time favourite, ayase and fujiki have great chemistry – I hope they make more dramas together)

-->Nobuta wo Produce

If you donft know what to watch next, I guarantee none of these will let you down.

Well since I can only remember three off the top of my head, maybe I havenft quite seen them all lol, any recommendations based on my list?

Great...! Victory! Peace!

Have you checked out the two SP episodes?

Two hours each, but definitely worth the time. Smile

It crossed my mind, but the likelihood of it being available for download is pretty thin. Sweat

Gomen, none of the behinds the scenes/outtakes/etc. that I've seen have any subtitles... But they're still sorta fun to watch, particularly for those addcited to Nodame... Smile

Not that I know of... I'm sure there's a number of music-themed dramas, but not in Nodame's class. Smile

Speaking of music-themed shows, have you seen the movie Swing Girls? Not slapstick at all, but a fun movie nonetheless... And some great Jazz/Swing music. Thumbsup

Sorry, missed your post... I don't suppose you saw any of mine...? Smile

What kind of drama are you looking for?

Romance? Comedy? Crime Drama?

Sounding like a broken record, but first and foremost: Nodame Cantabile... Mr Green

I completely agree!!! its fantastic, I'm sure anyone would love it. hmm as for other recommendations id also suggest

Hanayome to Papa (comedy/romance more comedy than romance)
Hanazakari no Kimitachi (comedy/romance again more comedy i think)
Papa to musume no nanokakan (Comedy and a little romance)
Kekkon Dekinai Otoko (Comedy ...and a little romance, I'm starting to see a trend here...
Tatta Hitotsu no koi (Romance not so much comedy...this is the only odd one out I see)
and of course the famed 1 Litre of Tears (drama/tear jerker)

If you like food, comedy, and crime dramas all in one, check out the two Kuitan series...

Just don't watch it if you're hungry... The food will drive you crazy. Smile

Thanks for the recommendations.

bmwracer --> I read up about Nodame Cantabile and it seems a little like Hotaru no Hikari (which is always a good thing), so Ifll definitely try that out and let you know what I think of it.
Generally though I like romantic dramas with some comedy mixed in, but for me story always comes first.
I donft think Ifve ever watched a crime drama so I donft think I can comment on whether I like them or not, if theyfre anything like Sherlock holmes stories then theyfre a definite no-no as Ifm not into that sort of gwho dunnith thing.
By the way, have you watched Hotaru no Hikari (Ifm a bit obsessed) ? From what Ifve read of Nodame Cantabile the characters seem similar, so you might like it.

Maiuuri --> Woah therefs a lot of dramas there, I donft know if I have the patience to check them all out, is there any in particular I should try out? Ifve already seen Hanazakari no Kimitachi e and I agree with you about it being more comedy than romance, but I didnft mind because it was a good balance of the both of them and it was nice and light hearted.

Ok well the best two out of there would be (this is only in my opinion of course) Hanayome to Papa(I'd watch this more for the comedy than the romance) and Tata Hitotsu no Koi(since this has more romance in it I think you might like it though it does have some sad moments.)
And i think 1 Litre of Tears is a must watch even if you don't watch that kind of thing normally I found it to be very inspirational and moving and I don't find a lot of things moving or inspirational.
