Now now, you can't call someone a convert until they actually watch the thing. Instead, do what we do with Odoru Daisousasen, make 'em watch it and become obsessed!
seeing all these feedback, i will attempt watching Nodame again......i failed to get past the first 10min in my last 2 attempts.
This winter's dramas were boring. I actually fell asleep watching The Negotiator.......the other dramas are congested with wallabies trying to look kawai. Help ! What else to watch besides Nodame ?
Has anyone, who isn't Nagase Tomoya's fan, watched Utahime ??? I'm not his fan, but somehow he is always in dramas with good storylines. Shrewd manager he has.........
We'll probably never get a Nobuta wo Produce again. Or even a GTO. But if you just want to watch something silly, I reccommend "Shiori to Shimiko no Kaiki Jikenbo". It's got Maeda Atsuko from Swan no Baka and Inoue Jun (the cabin attendant training chief) from Attention Please.

Have you attempted to watch One Pound Gospel yet? I've found it rather entertaining thus far, and though I've only started a handful of the other new series...understand that the wintertime is just like everywhere else in the world, where the more serious shows are bound to appear versus the summertime, which is full of silly shows (see My Boss My Hero, Hanazakari no Kimitachi e).

.... Uhhh...why would you watch a show if you weren't a fan...if you mean "anyone who isn't a total fangirl/guy of Nagase," then I suppose I can fit the bill...
Utahime was (and is) a severely underrated show that, while failing to capture great ratings in Japan, offered a pretty unique show that went up against the High School bishies of modern day. I personally loved it because it had a good storyline and had some pretty damned good performances not only by Nagase, but the supporting cast as well.
While the ending was somewhat left to be desired (one of those "Let's wrap it up in 10 minutes!" jobs), the overall experience I'd have to rate a 7.5/10. If you've got the spare time, I'd say check it out, but it's not a "can't miss" by any means.

Yay !! A convert! Trust me, Hotaru no Hikari won't dissapoint
Well you converted me I watched the show after you said it was slightly similar to Nodam...though its true I can't quite see the similarities and even in their slobieness they're completely different.
Nodame is a slob because thats her nature and nothing she does will ever cure her of it, besides shes slobbie all the time and I don't see her as laid back but more of a hectic personality filled with energy.
Hotaru is a slob because shes just lazy and enjoys relaxing after work. Her nature is laid back and calm.

Hey everybody. I'm obviously new to this board, but not to J-dramas and I've lurked around here a bit for advice from time to time. I have two requests, one that shouldn't be too hard to help me out with, and another that's kinda obscure. I'll start with the easy one, since it's the one I expect more feedback on:
I've seen a lot of dramas, but lately the ones I've found myself enjoying the most are adult-based ones, usually with office-work settings. I'm kinda looking for a romance one, but comedy is fine too. Examples are Last Christmas (this type would work best), Kekkon Dekinai Otoko, Haken no Hinkaku, Tsubasa no Oreta Tenchi Tachi, and Hataraki Man. These are just the ones that come to mind. If anyone can recommend a show or two, I'd greatly appreciate it!
The other request is kinda weird, and if you can't help out that's fine! Y'see, I often get very nostalgic for the time I spent in Japan, particularly for the times I spent out at night there. If anyone can name any dramas that feature...I dunno...a lot of nightlife/night scenes? Stuff like workers drinking at bars, izakaya, walking around at night...that'd be great. Again, really vague request and probably something so random that it just occurs in a bunch of shows. Don't worry too much about it. XD
Thanks in advance!
P.S. I have a giant crush on Inamori Izumi if that means anything.

Koi ni Ochitara has the cast members often chillin' at a wine bar.
Bambino has the cooks hangin' out at an izakaya often times.
Kiken na Aneki has one of the actresses working at a cabaret (hostess bar)
Brother Beat is a family drama which involves quite a few scenes with gokon (group dates) or characters drinking at an izakaya
Anego is about an OL (office lady) that often drinks with her co-workers at a nomiya after work
Searchin' for my Polestar is about a group of college friends who've grown up together...they always kick it at the same bar.
Utahime also has the cast going to the same nomiya every night but this is a period piece that takes place in postwar Japan.
Kisarazu Cat's Eye, one of the main characters owns a bar.

Hello and welcome!
Well, I'm no drama expert, but if you like office-based dramas, and you also like comedies, you should definitely check out Shomuni.

I wouldn't bother... If you can't even get past the first ten minutes in two attempts, no point in forcing yourself.
At least make him watch the whole first ep!!!
The first few minutes arent indicative of the rest of the show... Id hate for someone to miss out on the greatness that is Nodame _________________

~ Love Generation - has romance in an office setting
~ Koi no Bakansu - comedy and some romance in an office setting
~ Nanisama - same as above

.
~ Taiyou no Uta - lead actress can't go out in the sun, so a lot of it is filmed at night. No bar scenes or anything since she's in high school, I think
~ Ikebukuro West Gate Park - has a lot of night time scenes, but it's more on the violent side and not really romantic at all _________________
