I am having trouble picking new series that my Mum would like. She has watched quite a few already. What she has watched is similar to what I have on my profile page.

Out of those, I remember that she particularly enjoyed:
Bara no nai hanaya
Summer Snow
Hanayome to Papa
Aikurushii
Boku no Aruku Michi
And she prefers lighter series.

I was thinking of Papa to Musume no Nanokakan, but it sounds like it's lacking substance from some reviews... Oh, she has watched the first 3 episodes of Oyaji too. Suggestions please?

I am not sure about Golden Bowl. I watched the first 3 episodes and it's rather ... sad in parts. And marital affair may be a sensitive subject.

Around 40, don't know anything other than the brief intro. I'll take a look then. Thanks! Smile

Oh, Mum was also very impressed by Kusanagi Tsuyoshi's acting in Boku no Aruku Michi.

I watch Dramas with my mom too, and she is also the type who preferes lighter and funny series... her absolute favourites are Nodame and 1 Pound no Fukuin, she also liked GTO and Nobuta wo Produce.
And she's kinda fascinated by Akihabara@Deep Nut

I think Bambino is really nice too? [/u]

Here I am again~
(Am I being a nuisance? XD)

I just watched a bunch of romantic dramas and still I can't get enough Bleah
But somehow I want something a bit "fresher". I just watched >with love< and to be honest, it was a bit ...exhausting? getting on my nerves? Always repeating the messages etc...
I don't have anything against this stereotypical stories (although I welcome any new 'ideas')
The romance doesn't have to be the main-plot but a bit of romance is always nice =')

so Dramas I liked in that genre are (no order) :

-long vacation
-love generation
-pride (eh? all with the same main actor? just why...? Bleah )
-tatta hitotsu no koi
-nodame cantabile (it still counts as romance, right? ;Wink
-bara no nai hanaya
-orange days
-hitoni yasashiku

I didn't like "Boku dake no madonna", "hanayome to papa" and "Hana yori dango" was just so-so, as well as "Good Luck"

I don't mind if it's sad but I want a Happy Ending! ;;

(Doramas I already watched: http://yolchen.livejournal.com/59010.html)

...this is quite a detailed request right? óo
sorry... maybe someone could help be

Maybe you could check out Slow Dance, Beautiful Life, Ima Ai ni Yukimasu, Yasashii Jikan and Sekai no chuushin de, ai wo sakebu

Or a bit funnier H2, Haken no Hinkaku, Himitsu no Hanazono, Golden Bowl.

And the otaku series Densha Otoko and Shika Otoko Awoniyoshi are also love stories after all.

May be you can try dramas with Tomosaka Rie

I haven't watched any of them but these sound good from reviews:
(I think I will try them after finishing the current batch)

http://jdorama.com/drama.120.htm
http://jdorama.com/drama.638.htm

And Flowers for Algernon (Aruganon no Hanataba wo) is really good too.

If you like romances, you should check out Seikei Bijin... It's a different romance and a slightly older drama (2002), but I really liked it. Smile
