I'd be really grateful if someone here could give me some recommendations based on the following:

I only really liked Trick, so far. (The two protagonists have such an awesome chemistry...too bad their relationship never went anywhere in those 3 seasons).

I'm currently watching Mukodono 03 (only the first two eps so far). It's "OK" though nothing earth shattering.

JDramas I watched and didn't like:

-Densha Otoko (lots of horrible acting)
-Yama Onna Kabe Onna (...also horrible acting)
-4 or 5 more JDramas which were so bad that I don't even recall their names.

I'd prefer comedies, but will settle for anything with a good story + good acting.

I'm grateful for any recommendations along those lines Smile

For well acted comedy/romances with excellent leads, let me be the first to recommend Kekkon Dekinai Otoko, which stars Abe Hiroshi from Trick, and also Muri na Renai. Both of these star the wonderful Natsukawa Yui. For something a little different, you could try Ashita no Kita Yoshio.

Something which shares the same quirky sort of humour as Trick, and has leads with an obvious chemistry is Jikou Keisatsu, which can be hilarious in places.

Have you seen any of the Kuitan dramas? Or Jiko Keisatsu? Victory! Peace!

Ahh thanks for the recommendations. Already checked out ep1 of Kekkon Dekinai Otoko -I'm already liking it. Abe sure knows his craft. Thx again.

I know you provided this link for someone else, but thank you for mentioning this drama. I checked it out, and very much like the sound of it.
I think this might be my next drama after Bloody Monday. Victory! Peace!

Hard to explain why I like it, but I do: it's odd, quirky, unique, and rather tongue-in-cheek... Quite a refreshing (and welcome) change from all those fangirl/fanboy dramas that flood the airwaves... Victory! Peace!

I'm probably repeating myself here, but really: Thanks. I finished watching Kekkon Dekinai Otoko and it got exactly the thing I was looking for: a good script and good acting. I almost gave up hope. Thanks again.

Wow that was quick. Glad to be of service. The main issue with Kekkon Dekinai Otoko is that it is just so good. After you've seen it most other dramas are going to suffer in comparison.

Indeed -it was just *that* good. *Sigh* Why can't JDramas in general be more like KDO and less like a jp. version of Dallas ?

...anyhow I'm currently trying to obtain Muri na Renai...but it's kind of hard to find (which is strange for a '08 show). Looks promising from what I read so far. (Besides..I loved Natsukawa Yui in KDO)

With some careful research, it should not be too difficult to find ones you like. There are lots of good ones if you look at some older dramas, particularly if you have just started watching Japanese dramas. I remember when I first started, it didn't take very long to find some great series I like.

BTW, I really liked Muri na Renai as well... Yui-chan is terrific. Applaud

Thanks for the offer. However, I can't use torrents with my kind of Internet access -that's what makes finding this series so difficult. I was looking for ddls or irc-bots but so far I got nothing :/ (Well, one ddl that gives me ~20kb/s ...for 600-800mb files that's almost the same as nothing Sad )

Oh, well... guess it'll take me quite some time.
