I was wondering if you could be so kind enough as to recommend me a couple of dramas that feature very specific settings, wherein the settings almost become like a character in themselves. Something along the lines of Yasashii Jikan or Haikei, Chichiue-sama, or Ruri no Shima (which I am currently watchin' and lovin'!).
I love these dramas that sample different parts of Japan; it's like local color fiction ^^

Dr Koto?
Beach Boys?
Kita no Kuni Kara?
Minna Mukashi wa Kodomo Datta?
Ganbatte Ikimasshoi?
I didn't get the sense that the setting had almost become a character while watching the dramas you mentioned, but above are some dramas with nice settings.
Ohsama no resutoran is set in a French restaurant for the entire duration of the series, and it is one of the best I've watched. But the set itself was not that impressive.
Maybe try out Tiger and Dragon too, lots of shots into Japanese culture.

Some that come to mind are Shika Otoko Awoniyoshi, Kisarazu Cat's Eye, and Ikebukuro West Gate Park.

xploring and csweet gave already some good recommendations: I would add Ushi ni Negai wo: Love & Farm (although I hated it) and Akihabara@deep.

I just got Fugoh Keiji from a friend, is there anyone who has watched the show? I glanced the first episode and I saw Fukada Kyoko as a rich woman wearing only Pink things, which distracted me from the show

Many thanks for suggesting Ryusei no Kizuna. Very nice. Looks like a parody of Kurosagi at first glance. But actually much much MUCH better that I think it makes Kurosagi looks like Ryusei no Kizuna turned awry.
I'll probably choose Maou and Bara no nai Hanaya for 2nd and 3rd drama.

Hi all, im new here. can you all please recommend to me some
gangster , violent , fighting , yakuza genre ? Thanks.
Ikebukuro West Gate Park and Rookies are the only ones i saw with real violence and fighting.
Stay away from Gokusen, in the review it says that itLs about Yakuza and a fighting teacher...well itLs not, itLs just a comedy oriented dorama with a bunch of students who think they are tough, the Rookies students are much more vicious.
You can still try Bebopp High School, if you can find it of course...i canLt
But the king of yankees, fighting, violence, etc is the japanese movie Crows Zero with Oguri Shun and Yamada Takayuki.
