You have high standards...
For the "Soredemo" drama, maybe try "Mother" which has the same screen writer as "Soredemo." Superb drama and acting.
Since beem already +1 for Muri na Renai, I'm adding +1 for Mother. The actors are excellent especially Matsuyuki Yasuko, and if anyone's wondering where little Ashida Mana gets all the fame she's getting now, this is the drama to watch. _________________

Somewhat in line with Soredemo Ikite Yuku and Mother, I would recommend Arifureta Kiseki. It's not that well known, but is in my book the best series with Nakama Yuki. It's is quite a tragic story about depression. Also with Kase Ryo and Kishibe Ittoku : )
Thanks for the rec guys. Will add Mother and Arifureta Kiseki to my list. I guess I can also give Koi ni Ochitara a try.
I've already watched Muri na Renai purely for the Natsukawa Yui factor (loved her in Kekkon Dekinai Otoko). Unfortunately, I didn't really "feel" it for the old guy...and ended not really liking it. As for Yui, I hear she was also really good in Aoi Tori, though I've been told that the drama goes down hill from mid-point on. Anyone watched that one?

I've been away from the Jdrama scene for a while. Just came back recently, and watched Jin S1+2, Soredemo Ikite Yuku, and Last Friends back to back. Now I'm completely hooked again...but having hard time finding dramas that are up to par with the aforementioned ones. Other dramas I've enjoyed in the past include Kekkon Dekinai Otoko, Byakuyakou, 1L of Tears, Densha Otoko and more.
So now I'm here hoping you guys can come up with something. I'm open to any genre except shoujo stuffs (girl chasing pretty boys). I'm okay with both lighthearted and darker materials. But absolutely NO idol as main character (e.g. SMAP).
I guess my gold standard would be something like Soredemo or Kekkon Dekinai Otoko.
Thanks guys!!!
I would suggest you (in reverse chronological order):
Gaikoukan Kuroda Kosaku (watch the movie "Amalfi" before it)
Seigi no mikata
Rookies
Haken no hinkaku
Slow dance
Suekko chounan ane sannin
Koi no chikara
Yamato nadeshiko
Majo no jouken
...and I also wholeheartedly suggest you "Bara no nai hanaya", even if it's an exception to your anti-SMAP rule
(no, seriously, it's one of my all-time faves, if you miss this imho you're missing something, really... )

So, in others words , , , ,
NO Long Vacation
NO Gift
NO Hito ni Yasashiku
and
NO Ii Hito
Four excellent dramas IMO.
Haven't seen the rest, but I agree with Long Vacation, it's a wonderful drama worth watching. Kimura is actually better in his earlier stuff than recent ones, I think. Hero is another one I'd recommend, and I've also heard A Sleeping Forest is a good one.
Anyway, here are my recommendations for Hellzyaa:
Love Revolution
Long Vacation
Koori no Sekai
Gaiji Keisatsu
Soratobu Taiya
Hero
Ningen no Shoumei
Itoshi Kimi e
Hotaru no Hikari
Beach Boys
Over Time

I just recently watched Aoi Tori. Half way this series suddenly took a new direction, which I first felt was unrealistic, but as the series went on, was explained quite well. So I really liked the series in the end. Toyokawa Etsushi was very convincing and had great chemistry with Natsukawa Yui.
I'm looking for a drama that can keep me watching all the way cause I tend to stop halfway. It would be good if the drama has romance. Its okay if it doesn't have that much romance since I enjoyed Liar Game ALOTTTTT even though it didn't have that much romance, just some hints here and there.
I think something like rebound was a pretty good drama :> It was different from the rest and managed to keep me watching all the way to the end XD.[PLUS THE MAIN GUY WAS HAWT 8D]
I like high school romance dramas too :> [High school uniforms anyone?XD] Koizora was amazing <3 However I would prefer the drama not to have sad endings ;A;. It would be good if the cast is handsome/pretty ehehehe :3
Uhm....what elseeeee? uhhhh :x. I like comedy in romance dramas too (: Though thats not really a necessity.
Ohh and I like dramas that are interesting/different plotlines from the rest.I don't mind cliche plot if the actors and actress can do a good job in acting in out (:.
P.S anyone know any dramas that are similar to Liar Game? I absolutely loved it!! Even though It didnt have much romance.Which was a surprise since I normally only go for romance dramas (:. I watched all the 2 seasons and 1 movie of it ^^

Me too! I also like high school romance dramas. Any recommendations?
I watched the movie Koizora but not the drama. Is it the same story? Is the drama worth watching after you watched the movie?
Can anyone recommend me any doramas about music? Like Nodame Catabile.

I haven't seen the Koizora movie or drama, but I can recommend one high school romance drama, Strawberry on the Shortcake. Other than that, I can't think of any other high school romance dramas that I've seen. _________________

What kind of music? There's Taiyou no Uta, which is about a girl who dreams to sing for the rest of her life. It's sad at times but sweet and romantic. _________________

Other than Last Christmas, are there any Christmas dramas that would be good to watch?
It's not a Christmas drama per se but much of it takes place during the winter time in Hokkaido...and in fact one of the episodes does cover Christmas time...I'm speaking of Yasashii Jikan.

I've already seen that and LOVED it! It was a beautiful drama visually with a great background track. _________________
Yeah I re-watched it this year, myself. Really enjoyed it.
I'm tapped out at the moment...can't think of another one.
I have Manatsu no Merry Christmas, which I've never seen... but it has a lot of mixed reviews. I may try it after Dinner on Thursday since YT is in it.

I've seen Manatsu no Merry Christmas recently it was ok, YT is much better in Pyscho Doctor. A drama set around the time of Christmas I did like was Wakamono no subete / Stay Gold, its an oldie but a goodie, a bit dark but it just shows how awesome the younger Kimu Taku was
