What is jem's position on posting his files on the newsgroups (aka Usenet)? I haven't read anything about this... Analyzing his other views, I would think he'd be against this practice. As downloading from newsgroups increase, you'd proabably see a decrease in seeding on his BT tracker. What do you think?

Probably so...
But is so much better, I can download the file in 20 minutes _________________

Yo dude, I'm not bitching at JEM. I didn't know it was just him doing all that work. Read my post carefully before you say something like that. I'm just wondering if there is a forum where there is some coordination in order to seed the torrents. I'm saying that cause I'm seeding stuff but people jump off the train the instant they are done.
Also, I think most of their stuff are fan subs. Well the Koreans ones and the Chinese from China ones are considered to be fanwork since its written across the show in the beginning. Theres obviously fan subtitles hence fansubs.
Well, thanks for all the people who provided some info on JEM. I always thought it was a group but I'm wrong about that.
Why I do not like mIRC. The chats are just way too chaotic to get anything across. Half the time you have no idea if anyone will reply to any questions. At least with a forum there's the possibility of a discussion.

vibius wrote: | Why not just go to the BT requests forum on this site and propose that people seed JEM's dramas on some schedule or something. He probably doesn't want to be bugged with questions about seeding anyway.
Or, if you just want to get one drama, maybe see if you can get some people together to seed that one drama for a week or two.
This does happen every now and then anyway, so if you are patient, you can just wait. I think I've seen all the jdramas on his site completely seeded over the last 6 months or so. |
I think the jdramas are the most popular so most of the time there's no worries there. But the other ones like the Chinese dramas and to a certain extent the Korean ones are short of seeders.
Hmmm I'm just a noob here but do you think there's the possibility of creating a subforum here to coordinate jem releases and reseeds? Anybody know who the sheriff is in these parts?
And thanks, vibius, for the info. I'm just trying to alleviate some of the frustration from the lack of seeds that I'm sure alot of fans of JEM's work are feeling.

I would think so too, but from what I thought, Jem was aware of the posts of his stuff on the groups. I thought so because of something Musicman said once, although I can't remember what exactly it was. But it's in my head though so it musta been something
I've been wondering about what Jem would say and even Jtv.

Actually, most of the stuff aren't fansubs. There is an occasion now and then where the subtitles of the broadcast would be missing and JEM or other fans would fill in and sub it, but most of the time, they are rips of Singapore TV. Singapore airs stuff with English subtitles.
And that message that you are referring to in the beginning doesn't necessarily mean that someone subtitled it, like in JEM's case for example. He puts that in the beginning of every show he shares. (Think about it. How can one person sub that many episodes?) It is fanwork,so it should be free. Basically, he's trying to say that even though he didn't subtitle it himself, he is providing it for free to fans and no one should try and sell them for profit.

bandkanon wrote: | Hmmm I see. That certainly does fit with al lof the evidence. I guess I was looking at it skewed from a legal perspective. I always thought that what he was doing was technically legal given the fact that they were fanwork and therefore no commercial laws prevent the free distribution of copyrighted work. But then that would mean what he is doing is illegal since they are direct rips. But then he's distributing the content to countries that are not technically within the Singapore area. But then there might be trading agreements that prohibit this, or maybe not. Oh well, I'll check the books if I get the chance.
THanks for the extra info. |

LOL, and only starting the bid at $1??!?!? I guess his intention was to make everyone flock to it for such a low price and bid like crazy, raising the price. He obviously didn't cap them himself because he's based in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

I thought Jem did have a message in most of his caps. Something like "free fanwork for all!" or something.
