ive added 2 debtors in debtors file maintenance but in the General Ledger Acc Maintenance there is only one debtor...
im confused...
pls help me.... |
Michi, I work in a bank/credit union. I'm not in the accounting department, but I have some knowledge of General Ledger. So hopefully I can help. I'm not quite sure on how the real deal accounting thing works (because banks general ledger credits and debits are opposite of what accounting general ledgers would be).
I didn't major in accounting...if I did, I'd be working in the accounting department doing payroll and other high tech stuff. But anyway, I hope I can help.
Ok, for your second post question about GLs, I'll tell you what I know from my 3 years of banking experience. (Take it as an idea and not as the real thing 'cause I'm not sure if bank GLs will suffice as accounting GLs)
As for your adding 2 debtors in your file maintenance GL, as far as that goes, it's just numbers to me.
In your GL Account Maintenance, there is only one debtor because that GL is the "house" of where you will put the numbers into.
As far as your first two debtors, they are only statistics and whatever numbers they provide will go into the GL Account Maintenance "house" that has already been set up by your company.
See, in accounting, there is a different "house" (GL) for every expense. (You probably already know that) And every consumer or whatever, is just a number/statistic in what you want to/what you're going to put into or take out of that "house". (ie: if you give a refund to a consumer, that will be a debit to whatever appropriate "house" that it belongs to and if a consumer purchases something, then it will be a credit to that same particular "house") So probably, what you're going through right now is just that you set up two people and they became debtors and since you only have one "house" in which matches up to the whole thing, you're probably wondering why the numbers don't match up. (ie: 2 debtors and only 1 "house"/GL)
I probably didn't make any sense to you since banking GLs and accounting GLs are on a different level, but I hope I could've helped a little bit. _________________

You still gotta find me a good place to live in Hawaii when I retire |
Heh, I just call the GLs "houses". 'Cause basically they're a house for the numbers to go into.
And yeah, if I'm still doing that banking and finance thing in the next 50 years or so, yeah, I'll help you get a mortgage for your retirement home! Just keep your credit clean and not use it foolishly on Aya stuff! _________________

Good. Use your credit wisely. It's not worth it to mess it up. I've seen people my age who have scores of 400-500 or so. Sheesh. _________________
