Hey, I like The Time... Morris Day is one of the true characters in music... And they were very good in Purple Rain, as was the soundtrack...
Ah, yes, hahah, I KNEW there'd be at least one of ya'll who like The Time, and a fellow KIKU-TV-ite, no less!
Yeah, according to that website, SOME kind of incarnation of The Time is still performing (the concert date section mention performances from this month through June, at least).

Um, I think this thread should be in the General Discussion section, neh?
Hahah. Indeed, the "Kevin Little" post (who is "Kevin Little"?) coulda' complimented my "The Time" post from the "What are you currently listening to" thread. Go put 'em o'er there!

Hahah, oh, man . . . the one thing The Man cannot do is dance; ergo, maybe that's why I like The Time -- 'cause they do dance moves I can only dream of doing. In all their 40-somethingness, they really did well in Prince's "Rave Un2 The Year 2000" concert/DVD.
The Gap band is also great. Terrific synth. They're the band Kool and the Gang probably wanted to be (though, their Jungle Boogie makes a great effort). You Dropped the Bomb on Me, Burn Rubber on Me . . . more songs I wish I could have the dance moves to (I'm more of a Frank Farmer-slow-dancing-with-Rachel Marron-in-that-country-bar scene in The Bodyguard-kinda' dancer if anything).

You forgot Party Train... A great music vid with the guys singin' and dancin' down Venice Beach. Classic.

Ah, yes. "Pahhh-ty Train."
Even MORE obscure (I don't expect ANYONE here to remember these guys), anybody recall lesser-known R&B artists like O'Brian (who would've been the Babyface of R&B if Babyface didn't arrive on the scene) and Marvin Sease, whose tunes feature some of the raciest -- and I'm not talkin' ethnics, here -- lyrics you'll EVER hear; I mean, would you expect anything less from a guy whose songs titles include, I Ate You for My Breakfast (and we ain't talkin' anything CLOSE to Dr. Hannibal Lecter's comprehension of the same statement), Motel Lover, Candy Licker ('nother advisory note: we ain't talking Godivas here [at least not the chocolates]? Check out the samples listed here: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000001ETW/ref=pd_gw_qpt_2/103-7960795-9199842?v=glance&n=577394
While we're completely off-topic . . . how's everybody enjoying this new The Sopranos season thus far (even though only the first show was shown last Sunday). "Goombah Class of 2004" -- makes for a compelling storyine, eh?

Haha. Much appreciated, sir, much appreciated. As a non-alcohol drinker myself (not condemning it, here; in fact, more power to ya'll, just don't drink and drive now, else you [and/or someone else] be looking like ), I'll "pound" a diet coke for you, toasting toward your home.

Have a good one, Niko. Hope you got your polyester clothes and platform shoes ready...
