I know the question is aimed at Jules, but what about all you others? School, full-time work, something else?

I'm a third year university undergraduate majoring in Japanese (^^). Currently in Japan as an exchange student.

Eh, for you all it's easy to find the j-music you like... I'm sorry but for me there isn't any other chance but to download it...
I've downloaded "Smile", it seems to be a good album... Applaud
Could anyone tell me what are the names of the tracks which title is in Japanese? Thanx...
I've downloaded from www.l-arcenciel.com also that clip with Hyde and Ken guests in a tv show... veeery funny!! LOLOL

What do you think of the song "eyes of venus", played by L'arc en ciel featuring Yoshiki? I like X-Japan so much, even if I don't know anything of the sinlge members' solo careers...

Oh, talking about the differences between Japanese music and English, there's something really different: usually when you listen to a Japanese album you'll hear different kind of songs... I mean, artists changes their styles often: for example, the 8th track of "smile" ("revelation") has a sound that is very close to Marilyn Manson (really!), even if Hyde sings in a very different way. The rest of the album hasn't this style, that's why I say Japanese artists changes a lot. Most of English albums are the same from the beginning to the end.

Oh, Moccona, I study at university. I'm Italian and I study in a university in Milan (4th year).

Yup...I'm currently lead, but the other guitarist is working his hardest to dethrone me. Its funny...sort of a rivalry...We play so different too....I like to play with more style to songs while the other guitarist is constantly trying to keep everything on exact rhythm. And he has a teacher while I have to teach myself...we're so different.

i guess u'll like that too

I like the track....I like this track more for the vocals rather than guitar....I like Loverboy strictly for guitar because the vocals are kind of awkward.

hey Blue... i've got a question... i think you should have an answer to this

you know L'Arc 's music is having an alternation. If you follow L'Arc from the beginning ( Dune ) until their last... and I pray to god it's not really their last... album Smile what do you think about their flow of taste???

if you ask me then i would definitely say i still love their first four albums ( with Sakura still around ) you can see it from my chart... but hey that doesn't mean I don't like the other albums... no you get that all wrong

well i dunno... L'arc 's early stages... their songs like were really made me hypnotized... like my second soul... ah and all that stuff... i know a musician like you might have got a clear view about this... Well let me ask you a question... which band do you find ... ever ... to resemble L'Arc 's songs at their early stages... as far as i noticed there's none...

But again i'm not an expert of all that stuff... So do you have any clue about that... and of course all of you can join me to figure out the answer... please someone i desperately need an answer

but anyway no matter what i still love LARUKU!!! it's the best band ever!!!

Sakura's drumming was definately nicer to listen to than Yuki's. I actually like their transition from beginning up til now, there songs are more polished now and more presentable while the first couple albums were more raw. Hmmm....are you looking for english bands or j-rock bands....I'll get you a few bands after you tell me which.

Guys my band's still looking for a vocalist so if you know any vocalists that live near toronto, ontario, Canada who are around 15-16 years old please tell me about them....Thnx in advance.

Uh... =D I wanna learn how to play the guitar, but i have no time these days. i can sing any songs that... i know... =D i don't have any recordings of what i sound like, but i think i sound a little like crystal kay when i sing, just... not as good. (crystal kay = j-R&B singer) definitely not as good as her.

I haven't heard the full thing -_-;; but I think "Seppun" is a really cool song. "Coming Closer" reminds me of Michael Jackson a bit (just the beginning) but i like it =D

Ah man....it'd be great to hear you sing mallepa...unfortunately my band's only looking for a male vocalist right now... hope one day we find our own Hyde. Mallepa...guitar is probably one of the easiest instruments to learn in my opinion. Even easier than piano. Just be prepared for your fingers to all harden as a result of the strings.

It rocks (^^).. because there aren't many Australians here as compared to say Americans, Brits, etc. so people are often very curious about me and about Australia Mr Green

What do you mean by 'more helpful'?

My Japanese conversation skill is quite fluent (depending on topic) but the part that surprises most people is that I speak Kansai-dialect.

As a side note: it isn't rare for foreigners who work/study/live in Japan to be able to speak some Japanese, so no, people aren't so surprised when a foreigner speaks Japanese. It probably surprises them when they speak Japanese well. Of course reactions would definitely vary between city and country, etc.

What I find surprises people the most is when a foreigner knows a lot about Japan. I don't mean the exact height of Mt. Fuji or something like that, but things like trends, etc.

Yeah I read that too, from a Thai site.. i am assuming it is accurate, because Ȑ is the kind of song title L`Arc~en~Ciel would use..

Yeah, you're right.
It is more rockish.
Waaai! I love Feeling fine!
Is it just me, or is the starting chords/introduction somewhat like..
Boys Be?
or that could be so cause my ex loved Boys Be
& listened to the OST over & over again..
*muses*

Seppun.. grows on you.
I rolled my eyes the 1st time
I'm not really a fan of heavy rock or metal.

Feeling Fine would be the 2nd Ken composed song that I like a lot.
The 1st, being 4th Avenue Cafe.

I don't know about bands.. there are many that have a L'Arc feel to them in some of their songs, such as Glay (similar lyrics and the use of an orchestra). I would say Gackt comes very close in matching Hyde's singing voice however.

I know some of you will disagree, so therefore just listen to the song Orenji no Taiyou (IW̑z) on Gackt's CRESCENT album and try to pick out the parts where Hyde is singing, as opposed to Gackt. You should be able to do it, but they are quite similar to a degree.

Yep, yep.
Their voices are similiar..
Gackt's singing voice is slightly higher than Hyde's is I feel..
