I've looked around for free video editing programs without ever finding a good one. In the end, Windown Movie Maker was better than all of the free ones I could find. If you use a somewhat recent version of Windows, you should have it sitting on your computer somewhere.
From what I remember, it should be able to compress videos just fine.

Unfortunatly I'm running on a 7 year old laptop and i'm still on win98.
But, yeah I think i'll abduct my brother's computer to use his WMM. Thanks anyways! (i really need a new computer)
