I just noticed in the end credits of SP that there's a 'music by...' and then there's also 'music selection by...'. I'll have to go back and check if that's the case in NC as well.
In SP, is the score as good as that of Galileo (or, why not, better?)? I like Yugo Kanno very much, and the producers seem to like him a lot as well, nowadays... About 1-2 dramas per season, that's a full-time job.
By the way, there seem to be more incidental music by Hattori on the NCCD than in the series proper. Or I am mistaken?
Finally, I hope there will be a OST CD for the january special (as it was for the Jyoou no Kyoushitsu SP).[/b]

I don't think so. The score is certainly competent, but I blame it on the fact that his score is used when nothing much is happening on screen and then they cut to the IMHO horribly mismatched classical music for the important scenes.

I didn't listen to the OST that closely, but I think it's more because they're complete pieces instead of just playing part of them in the drama.
And despite Iryu 2 seemingly recycling some of the music from season 1, IMO it still has the coolest score of all among this season's dramas.

A couple of tracks in the OST were never used in the drama. Probably because the scene that went with the music were edited out, or the music was replaced by another (classical?) piece.

That's what I thought, thanks thtl for the confirmation It is a pity, though, for this score is one of Hattori's best... But it is also true that the subject of the drama is classical music, so it was obvious to use as much classicaal music as was possible...

Announcement
I forgot to renew my Sendspace accounts, lapsed for 9 days, and lost around 5GB of stuff as a result. I've since renewed the subscriptions but it will take a while for me to find out exactly what I've lost and to reupload them. Please let me know ASAP - by posting in this thread or by PM to me - if a link I posted no longer works. I'll fix it right-the-way.
