I notice both my brother and my mom talk louder when they on the phone. Not sure if thats just a Vietnamese thing because my family does that too

But yea, it bugs me. I can hear them even when I'm in my room and my music loud enough to be heard in the kitchen with TV on. Its not loud when I do this, but w/o my music loud....... Sleeping would be quite hard

Falling asleep in class with pen in hand, on notebook, head ended up tilting down. My friend who sat next to me didn't even noticed i was sleeping. He thought I was taking notes

I think you can say it's an asian thing? I know my family does that too.. really annoying. And not only on the phone, I remember when my aunts visiting: it sounded like they were fighting while it was just "chatting"

I've noticed people at work here talk louder when they're talking to someone that doesn't speak english very well. I guess they think if they yell, it'll get thru faster
