SKUNKS!!!!
Jeeze I hate skunks.
My dog went after one in the backyard four days ago and got a full load square in the face for his trouble.
Well, I deskunked him, and was finally able to wash the "cure" off this morning, and just now my freakin' cat came to the window, blinking away and acting like the world had ended.
Yup, she got skunked as well, and she got into my house before I realized what had happened.
So now my house reeks of it. I had to apply the cure, which is a heavy foam made of soap, baking soda, and peroxide (try wiping that on an already pissed off cat) -- and for my troubles, she tore gouges through my arms.
And for those lucky enough never to have smelled it, skunk doesn't just stink. It'll make you sick to your stomach for days.
Man, when all is said and done, I wonder if living in the city was really that bad.
@Geezer: Soooo Sorry to hear about your skunking incident! I thought that one of the 'cures' for removing the smells of skunks from pets was bathing them in large cans and cans of tomato juice and then rinse well. Have you ever tried that?

Yea, that's the one cure that I've heard of. Tomato juice. It works. _________________

So what's bothering me right now are the subs for Flowers for Algernon. The "subtitler" obviously doesn't know enough Japanese to subtitle this series because a lot of parts were left in romaji (and bad romaji, at that). I'm guessing that the person listened to the raw, typed out the romaji, then attempted to translate it. Which would be fine if that person had an inkling of what makes sense and what doesn't.
For instance, the person romanized a lot of things wrong. Even simple things like "jaa, ima iku" would be romanized as "jaai ma ikku," making it nonsense, and resulting in them just leaving the romaji in brackets. And they hardsubbed it and distributed it, which is really irresponsible. There were even instances when the person put in brackets: [Help! I don't know what he is saying.]
Don't get me wrong. I really do appreciate people who fansub because it sounds like a long and grueling process. I just wish that if there are things that the translator doesn't understand, that person would ask someone who is more proficient at the language for help. _________________

You are a brave, brave man. I doubt that I could post something like that there. I prefer bitching about it in threads like this.
I'm a little surprised that you joined that forum too. With all the time you spend here, how the heck do you find to do anything else? _________________

I think I was quite diplomatic about it... It wasn't a pure rip job.
People won't change their behavior if you put 'em on the defensive... By rationalizing things, it'll be more palatable.
I hope.
I read your post too, and although it may just be constructive criticism, others may take offense to it. But I honestly think that it was a good thing that you said what you wanted to because maybe they'll take that into consideration the next time they fansub something.

I joined just to be able to access the subs and put in my two cents (like above)...
So there's no way you can access subs unless you sign up? _________________

Hmm, maybe I need to soften my criticism a bit.... ?
Nah, I think that what you said was fine. It's just that sensitive people (ass-kissing fans and the subbers) may get hurt by it. Eeps, I hope they don't visit this site and read my words. _________________

Lemme guess: Arashi?? KAT-TUN? NEWS??? All of the above?
I'd rather have all 3 than the Filipino music they got going on right now with the standard drunk old man singing his heart out. And don't forget to throw in "My Heart Goes On" or whatever that damn Titanic song's called. _________________

Can't you call the cops?
Well, the thing is it's not *that* loud. Just irritating. And for some reason, a lot of locals in Hawaii tolerate stuff like that. Hell, my neighbors even kill goats right outside my bedroom window and I don't call the cops on them even though I'm so tempted to.
Oh God...now it's "I wanna dance with somebody." Will these people not stop with the cheesiness??!?! _________________
