My wish is for a non-formulaic Gokusen 3--or a movie--putting a more mature Sawada Shin back into Yankumi's life... It would take some excellent writers, though...

The first Gokusen Rocks!!
Gokusen 2 is a little bit of disappointing for me - other than the fact that I am so much attached to the Gokusen cast - Shin (matsujun), Uchi (shun), Kuma etc etc you name them I love them.
If they go for Gokusen 3, I would say it would be overkill. Not many sequels are good.

Haha! I remember that scene. Made me laugh when i watched it. How funny to have a student liking a teacher. Gokusen such a great film.
Does anyone know about Gokusen 2 and would you recommend it? To me i think originals (as int he first of everything) is alwasy best.
yeha, loved that scene too. i was like, "see, see! it old you he likes yankumi!!!" to my friends afterwards. haha.
i liked gokusen a lot, not only because shun was there but really because the series was good. like you, i think no sequel can beat the original. anyway, gokusen2 was pretty much the same, though it was more focused on the five main students. though i really really really heart kame and jin to death, i still maintain my opinion that gokusen1 was better. but i still recommend you watch it. you never know, you might like it. _________________

Hmm, is Gokusen 2 a continued story from Gokusen 1 or is it a brand new storyline with complete new characters just following the same "kind" of storyline? I didn't watch the second because i thought it would just be a repeat of the first which would not be so interesting.
Awww, yeh i think everyone who was watching it where just waiting for Shin to admit his love for Yankumi. Awwww wonder who Yankumi chooses...oOOooOo...

it has new characters, but basically the same kind of storyline. she's at another school already, and as usual, they're all kinda delinquent. some characters from the first one are still here though. _________________

I hope Gokusen fans don't pelt me with tomatoes, because I'm about to post some negative feedback on this show. Someone get me a bag or something to serve as a barrier between the fans and me. Haha.
Anyway.
Gokusen, or should I say Gokusen 2, was a great disappointment to me. I have to confess, I never watched Gokusen 1 because I was a little too obsessed with Akame and KAT-TUN at the time I watched Gokusen 2.
The acting was alright. I mean, Kame pulled it off pretty well. However, I did not find Jin's portrayal of Hayato all that convincing. Please, Jin fans, don't kill me. I love Jin, but watching him perform, I was just left feeling, "Um, yeah. OK. Satisfactory. Whatever." whereas when I watched the performances of actors such as MatsuJun and Yamapi (in the dramas Hana Yori Dango and Nobuta wo Produce), I was simply astounded.
Overall, I think everyone tried their best. I genuinely wish that I had a teacher like Yankumi. Such a kind-hearted person is so hard to find these days.
Anyway, despite the actors' attempts to make Gokusen 2 interesting, I still didn't find it all that captivating. I mean, it was basically watching the same episode over and over again. Delinquents getting beaten up. Yankumi saving them. Delinquents getting beaten up. Yankumi saving them.
It's still worth a watch, if you're a great Nakama Yukie or KAT-TUN fan, like I was. The show was pretty enjoyable, but not enjoyable enough to make your jaws drop, you know what I mean?
I'd like to hear your thoughts about the original Gokusen drama. Is it really worth a watch? Is the acting better than Gokusen 2?

I think there's considerable agreement that 2 isn't nearly as good as 1 for a lot of reasons....

You should have watch the original first... The first was fresh because it was the original... Don't know what you'll think of it now, since you've already watched 2.

Acting is roughly the same, IMO. It may not be as good as if you watched him in order. Some plot points have been revealed to you already.
Otherwise, the plot lines are roughly the same.. money issue episode, saving her precious students from a gang from a rival school, hiding her family, etc.

hehe. as i said, i fastforwarded these scenes. and yes, i'm also a very big kat-tun fan, esp kame. i liked his odagiri ryu. he was cool here. but as you said, it just wasn't enough. i feel the same way, esp since i watched the first one first.

well, for me (and apparently for all of use who got to watch both..), it was way better than the second one. actually same acting. although as bmwracer said, i think your opinion will be a bit colored by the fact that you saw gokusen2 first. in that case, gokusen1 will be just like a repeat for you. watch it anyway. _________________

I think that's the basic storyline of the first as well and the whole Gokusen idea. So if you didn't enjoy watching the second one the first is just kind of a repeat i think. But you really should have watched the original first, the second is kind of a repeat with brand new characters which i personally don't think was that good ...no offence to some.
