Hey guys, Im kinda down since I just got fired from my shitty job with the mortage co. I was workin' for. Got caught drinking on the job plus didn't close any deals. Just curious what have any of u guys gotten fired for? It might make my whino-ass feel better Puppy Dog Eyes

I think in most cases....it is natural to feel down, and out after a job termination...which i had to deal with on two different occassions, once that really hurt my self-esteem, and the second time, where i almost felt indifferent, nonetheless, It made me feel like crap, and took awhile to get over....

Understand that doing Sales can be really really tough, and sometimes working with people that are not very patient, and understanding can only compound the fact that there are lack of sales, due to circumstance, environment, and possibly performance....

this is an opportunity for you to re-evaluate if this is your field that you want to continue to pursue, maybe this is a great opportunity for you to try something new, and pursue it with all your heart...and take more risk. I don't know your work background, age, etc......but my guess is, that you have nothing more to lose at this point....
if you can afford to financially, take a little time off, and recollect your thoughts and confidence, and do some career researching, take up a new hobby, vent more to friends, make new friends....enjoy life, but know that what you do, give it your all, and take some good calculated risks, and know also that it is ok to fail, and that you tried. Your efforts will not go unnoticed, when you are in a more ideal productive environment... Yes!

yet...another post...

I really think this has openned my heart and mind on this topic...

cause there are a lot of unfair things that go on in this world...

a constant struggle to feel that if you fit in, or if you can make a difference feel productive and feel respected by your peers, and be content...

during the past 2 years, i dealt with a lot....a lot of pain, and learning, and to this very day, i am still learning to deal with it. After two job terminations, and a break up after 5 years....I learned that life is a risk and anything can happen. I try to make the most out of nothing, and have gained a little insight on how and still trying to overcome all this at my age. and sure it leads to a lot of insecurities and doubts.

I think during this time, you in your current situation, you really need to re-collect yourself, your emotions and your self worth and understand that A JOB, provides money, BUT it DOES NOT define who you are, regardless on how much money someone makes.

like a breakup from a romantic relationship, healing takes time, and a lot of thinking and more thinking what went wrong and....etc.......
i had to deal with both types about the same time, SO, i decided, what the hell, took a vacation with one of my good friends and went to JAPAN last year, and took some time off for myself to career search, and i am still in that process and job searching....

so, stay in there, and don't give up, cause i am in that boat....
also, thank goodness for this online community, which helped me too.
Also, I took up exercising and maintaining my health, and running has helped me in a lot of ways. I said a lot....
I hope that helps, good luck.

*sigh... so much crazy work today... Ripping through 5 year old warehouse code to add in new functionality cause these new data sets're just busting the old architecture. Worst of all... C++ style code in Java makes me want to shoot myself.... Bang Head Damn pass by reference hacks and lack of method deprecations..

thanx a lot. it really helps when you finally get some good advice. The ppl that I told just told me I was an idiot and that I should go into anything that requires selling. Ur right I should try something new and'follow it with all my heart'. I think I am a better sales person when I sale person-to-person rather than on the phone. Maybe I should try real-estate. I have already signed up for classes. Thanx so much qilver Wave

Hey, don't complain. A least you have a job. I have been trying to get one but its tough if u got no job experience. When I finally did get one it was with a crappy mortgage co. and I got paid only commission so I lasted only about 1 month there. And I DESPERATELY need a job. Bills and rent don't pay themselves u know. So stop complaining. trust me, u don't know what you have till it's gone. Shake Head

wow, that is really tough...even Savon's....

where are you applying? you mentioned real estate, is that your main interest and focus? The job market is very tight as i am in contact with 2 different temp agencies, and sending out my resume for an accounting job, since I have a bachelor's degree in Finance, but also, i am very interested in going into the Teaching Field, so i am contemplating if and when to go to school for my Teaching Credential in the fall, maybe...?

i mean, what the hell do we all have to lose? i'd say go for it, best of luck to you.... Applaud Yes!

I can KNOWINGLY say that Money.com is not accurate at all. There was a guy that used to work for the same mortgage co. as me. He started working there last yr. and made 2.1 million that same yr. This year he decided to start his own company. On the other hand, my cousin is in fact a software engineer and she doesn't make half as much as the guy I know. how long ago did you see this? Crazy

Best Job doesn't mean that it's the highest paying job, which seems to be your criteria, not Money.com's criteria.

You'll notice that Conglomerate CEO isn't on that list either, and im sure they make way more than your RE friend.

Sales isn't stable. Dell's sales team has a turn over rate of I believe 90%.

Doesn't matter what you're selling, sales is sales. Don't make your mark and you get canned. Don't sell more than what you sold last quarter, you get canned.

not to mention, RE is highly cyclical... and there's a ton of them, and it's not very hard to get a RE license.
