Nakama to play wheelchair-bound sleuth

Actress Yukie Nakama, 30, will star in a new mystery drama set to air in December on Fuji TV. Nakama will play a disabled woman confined to a wheelchair, who becomes embroiled in a mysterious multiple murder case.
The new drama,titled �gMesen,�h is based on a novel and centers on a family living in a large mansion, lorded over by a successful CEO patriarch. Nakama will play the third daughter of the CEO. She works as an illustrator who lost the use of her legs in a childhood accident.
The plot of the story kicks off when the family patriarch apparently commits suicide. The story takes a variety of twists and turns as Nakama�fs wheelchair-bound character attempts to uncover the mysterious circumstances of her father�fs death.

Fukada Kyoko and Utada Hikaru in love?

A rather unique dating rumor has been published by a couple of tabloids yesterday. They claim that actress Fukada Kyoko (27) and songstress Utada Hikaru (27), who is currently on a hiatus, are in a love relationship.
Apparently both of them have often been seen at a certain bar in the Shinjuku Ni-chome district of Tokyo. That district is known for having the world's highest concentration of gay bars and thus there are a lot of places made for lesbian women as well. However, recently there have also been an increase of heterosexual women that just want to be more comfortable without any men around who visit such places.
One witness who saw the two celebrities at such a bar back in July described their appearances. First she saw Fukakyon sitting at the counter, having a few glass by herself. She was a wearing quite a revealing dress and showed a lot of cleavage that day. A little later Utada appeared at the bar as well and unlike the feminine appearance of Fukakyon, she had more of a rockish vibe wearing a shirt with a skull design and trousers. It wasn't the only time they have been spotted in this district. In fact, several people working in Ni-chome revealed that they have been seeing those two quite a few times already.
Only a month later Utada suddenly announced her hiatus, but the tabloid isn't trying to indicate any connection to those sightings.
An official of a TV station commented, "Since last year I've often heard stories about both of them being spotted in Ni-chome. There even have been a couple of interesting reports going a bit more into detail about their encounters�c Anyway, it's been known for a while already that Fukakyon really loves lesbian bars. She always goes there to have a drink and raise her spirit just before filming a drama and so on. There even is one favorite place she likes to go when she finishes a project."
Throughout her career, Fukakyon has been in quite a couple of official and unofficial relationships with men. She's already being referred to as a "nikushoku joshi", a so-called "carnivorous woman" that is very active in the field of love. Her most recent relationship with Shimizu Akira's son that started last year already came to an end earlier this year. Now people start to believe that the end of her relationship with him could be related to her new relationship with Utada.
"Utada and her are very close friends and almost meet each other on a weekly base. Moreover it's an inviolable rule that even as a celebrity you never get any kind special treatment in such bars and after all there aren't really that many places where they would be able to share a few drinks without having to worry about attracting the public attention�c.," the TV station official continued.
They sure would make an interesting couple, but it's highly doubtful that this rumor will turn out to be more than just a wild idea of a weekly tabloid.

Not really news, but no thread for her, but Junko Fuji/Sumiko turned 65 today, anyone who loves older films from Japan need to see her in the Red Peony movies, must watches! Also seen in the 2008 movie Sweet Rain, plus many older movies, sort of paved the way for Meiko Kaji's tough woman roles. _________________

From the late 60's to the early 70's she was arguably the most popular movie actress in Japan. Her name on the marquee all but guaranteed a box office hit, and her acting was critically acclaimed as well. Then, while still in her 20's, she married a Kabuki actor and retired to raise a family (her daughter is the talented actress Terajima Shinobu and her son is a Kabuki actor). Fortunately she has returned to acting in recent years, both in movies and in dorama, albeit in supporting roles. An excellent actress actress in her heyday and an excellent actress still. (right, Geezer?)

Junko caused me no little bother when I saw her in "Hula Girls". I kept rewinding the disc, staring at her face, and trying to figure out who she was.
The last time I'd seen her was in the early 90's when I went on a Junko jag, renting any and every one of her films that I could get my hands on. And of course, those films were from the mid sixties and early 70s. I just wasn't ready for her to suddenly (in my mind) be 35 years older.
Mannnn. She owned the Gambling woman genre. One of the strongest and most beautiful woman I've ever seen on screen.
And she still pumps out that same intelligence and strength today, playing little old grannys.
If Mizuno Kumi was the Queen of Toho, Fuji Junko was the Queen of Toei. Only Junko could act. (Still can.) _________________
Japan's newest pop singer is actually a CGI creation

Fans of the popular Japanese pop group AKB 48 received a shocking surprise recently when an entirely new member appeared with the group in a commercial for candy maker Ezaki Glico. The pretty new star�fs name was Aimi Eguchi, according to her profile on the AKB 48 website, and everybody was frantically trying to discover more about this 16-year-old singer who had appeared suddenly in the limelight, seemingly out of nowhere.
It turns out, however, that Aimi Eguchi doesn�ft really exist. The AKB 48 member is actually a 100 percent computer-generated character, created entirely for the Ezaki Glico ad campaign. Her look is a composite of all the �gbest features�h from the real-life members of AKB 48 that appear in the commercial: a nose from one, eyes from another, mouth from another, etc. Her name is derived from the name of the candy company. And her alleged birthday, February 11, is, in fact, the date on which the company was founded.
The candy maker finally revealed its massive marketing prank this past Sunday when it released a making-of video that showed how Aimi Eguchi came into this world.
If you�fre thinking that you�fd be able to catch the fake, take a look at the video below and see the masterful CGI work by the commercial�fs creators. Even after giving the quick (15 second) clip repeat viewings, knowing full well the truth, Eguchi still looks just as real as the rest of them.
Another mind-blowing factor that likely played a role in fooling AKB 48 fans is that the group has 61 (real) members. Yes, that�fs right: There are 61 members of AKB 48. With that in mind, it doesn�ft seem so improbable that fans would accept a new member just popping out of thin air.
While some fans were surely devastated that the new AKB 48 member was nothing more than 150 gigabytes of data, other�fs reportedly took a more philosophical approach to the revelation.
�gAlthough Eguchi is not a real person,�h says Channel News Asia, �gsome observers say she possesses the purest essence of what an idol is – a completely artificial persona created by putting together the traits that fans love the most.�h
