Visiting Korean superstar Bae Yong Joon (32) lost his trademark smile yesterday - and even shed a tear. The cause of his distress was news that 10 of his middle-aged female fans had been injured in a crush outside his central Tokyo hotel. Afternoon wide shows carried live coverage of his car's attempted progress through the screaming crowds, and said the injured fans had been aged between 43 and 51. The mass hysteria, usually the domain of teenage girls, shows no signs of abating, with every possible sighting of the soap opera star, known as Yon-sama, crammed with "obaa-chans" for hours ahead. • Meanwhile, younger fans in his home country were welcoming Japanese pop diva Hamasaki Ayumi (26). In her first performance in Korea, Ayu bared her midriff and sang her hits for about 15,000 fans at the first Asian Song Festival. She even sang the chorus of the song "Boys and Girls" in Korean. Also on the bill were local girl BoA (19), who has made it big in Japan, and other big Asian acts.

Hi everyone,

I'm new here so can anyone help me?

I'm looking for two things..

1. The Full cast list of the actors/actresses who were in the TV series 'Hotel/Hoteru'. I would like to know where I can find a complete list.

2. The name of a Japanese mini-series about a young woman named Azuma who opens a fashion shop and has two boarders at the house she rents. One is a shy young man who designs a computer game and whose family owns a large Kimono Store/Company. The grandmother runs the company and is trying to get her grandson to take charge of the company.

Thank you all for your help.

Actor Kubozuka Yosuke (25) is to make his movie comeback next summer. He will co-star in "Tobi ga Kururi to", starring actress Mizuki Arisa and based on the novel of the same name. Filming already started in Tokyo last week. The often controversial actor miraculously survived a fall from his 9th-floor apartment in June and spent 3 months recovering from his injuries. • NTV presenter Shibata Tomoyo (29) gave a tearful farewell to her fans on the "Sports Urugusu" show on Sunday. She spent six years on the show but will retire in December before marrying Seibu Lions ace pitcher Matsuzaka Daisuke (24). She was presented with a bouquet by fellow presenter, former Giants baseball star Egawa Suguru (49). • J-pop diva Hamasaki Ayumi (26) has announced that she will not be taking part in the year-end Japan Record Awards. This is despite the fact that she won the main award for the last three years running, the first artist to do so. It seems it is part of her new policy not to take part in any award ceremonies, which was partly affected by the recent turmoil at her record label, Avex.

Welcome to the boards! Big Grin

You might try posting your inquiry here: http://jdorama.com/viewtopic.5412.htm in regards to that miniseries...

Geneva, huh? I've got a cousin living there right now: she's working for the United Nations... Smile

Hirai Ken's hit single "Hitomi wo Tojite" (Close Your Eyes) is the biggest seller of the year, despite the fact that it never made No.1 in the Oricon weekly charts. It sold 834,000 copies (of 950,000 distributed), helped largely by being the theme song for the sleeper hit movie "Sekai no Naka de, Ai wo Sakebu." Hirai (32) is the first male solo artist to top the annual rankings since Oda Kazumasa sold over 2 million copies of "Oh! Yeah/Love Story wa Totsuzen ni" in 1991. His latest album, "SENTIMENTALovers" is already a million-seller, just three days after its release. The best-selling album of the year was the greatest hits collection by Utada Hikaru (21). Her "Single Collection Vol.1" sold almost 2.5 million copies. She is the first artist to top the rankings four times, and has done so with just four albums released.

Former Morning Musume member Abe Natsumi (23) is on a forced leave of absence after being nabbed for copying other artists' work. As a result of the two-month punishment, she has had to drop out of the Kohaku New Year's Eve song special on NHK. Nacchi had been scheduled to appear as part of a trio with fellow Hello! project members Goto Maki (19) and Matsuura Aya (18). They will now go on without her. Revelations of plagiarism over the last few years, in a series of books and on a radio show, appeared on the Web at the end of November.

Here is my response I posted on the J-ENT ML to the news regarding Abe Natsumi and her plagiarizing the work from other artists.

Examples of her copying and reworking of the lyrics and poetry of others. http://www.geocities.jp/paropro2004/

Her public message made on the HP Website:
http://www.helloproject.com/news/1130_osirase.html

It's a shame this happened. I've always looked at Abe Natsumi in a positive light and to see this happen is very shocking.

For those who want a synopsis on what is on the site that Zoe provided. The site shows the comparisons from the essays that are included on Nacchi's photobooks "Hikari" and "ALBUM1998-2003" and what was said on her radio show "Young Town".

Also, a message from Nattchi regarding what she has done and admits her wrongdoing. She does say that when she hears a phrase or poems that catches her attention, she keeps note of them and when writing her own poems (I'm guessing she doesn't keep track of who wrote the lyrics or who was responsible for the lyrics or poetry, but she liked it and writes them down and reworked them for her poetry/essays), she referred to the notes she has written and reworking of the phrases as selfish.

it appears that Nacchi tried to hide things via changing several words but pretty much nearly keeping everything intact.

She used lyrics by Chibi, aiko, Judy and Mary's YUKI, TK (for Amuro's "Body Feels EXIT"), Tachibana Izumi and many more and reworked them by a few changes (again, leaving most of the original phrases intact) and passed it off as her own. I've been checking a few of the Japanese message boards and many people are stunned and are comparing the lyrics.

Unfortunately, I don't know how this will affect Abe Natsumi's career. Personally, I've thought about this and I'm a bit curious why just two month's off. I'm curious if she will continue to host a radio show. I'm curious about her solo career (even her sister's solo career).

I think we have seen many artists in Japan who have had really hi-profile mistakes, accidents and selfish situations and their careers are over. As mentioned before, I think Inagaki Goro of SMAP was one of the rare instances where he was able to keep his job. On a PR standpoint, it was good to see the members of SMAP come out and do some major apologizing to their fanbase and how Goro's act affected them up to his return and in a tearful/long apology to his fans for what he did. And most of all, you could tell from that televised appearance that the man went through some pain and was emotionally wrecked knowing what he did to his group, his fans and what he did to himself.

As for Abe Natsumi, the fact is that female idols come and go and I'm curious to see how the management intends to handle this. It's very unfortunate to see this happen and the fact that someone who is in the spotlight continuously had to plagiarize work from other major artists (especially artists that she's probably met and respected), it's a very bad situation for her.

I guess we'll see what happens throughout the week to Sunday on the episode of "Hello! Morning". But this is serious and may have some career ending (or shortening) ramifications.

hey man. Long time, yeah. Smile I've been around... scanning threads, but haven't had much to say recently.

And there isn't much to defend here. Abe made a mistake and she's being punished. She made H!P lose face and embarrassed herself and everyone around her...
but I don't find any of this funny.

It'd be one thing if she had a history of being a bastard of a human being... but there has been no evidence of this both visibly and from whatever it is I've read/heard of her behind the scenes.

I can't help but feel for the girl. And since she's been one of my all-time favorite idols... even moreso.

hey man! That means a lot coming from you. Smile

And I've been dealing with some serious changes in my life recently... for the better.

I'd been taking in a lot of jpop stuff, history, etc. So that has been a major emphasis recently.

But I'll never abandon this board. Big Grin

If you're interested in the currently underway film adaptation of Arthur Golden famous novel "Memoirs of a Geisha", take a look at a few advance stills at this site: BlackFilm.com. Directed by Rob Marshall, the movie stars Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi, supported by such local luminaries as Watanabe Ken, Yakusho Koji and Kudo Yuki. It is an epic story of love and betrayal set against the broad and rapidly changing social canvas of 20th century Japan. Nine-year old Chiyo, a poor fisherman's daughter, is taken from her family and sold to a geisha house. From her start as a common household maid, she blossoms into one of Kyoto's most renowned geishas, surviving the envy and treachery of the competition.

Here's my take on the Nacchi situation: I think it's pretty unfortunate that she was copying other people's work and all. And she's pretty lucky to get away with 2 months of "punishment" at that. It could have been way worse with the artists that she plagiarized from sueing her. But her career is pretty much in shambles unless she can pull a Sakuraba Yuichiro like in Mukodono.

Actress Koyuki (27) and Irish singer Enya (43) are to collaborate on the singer's new video. The full-length video for "Sumiregusa" (Violet Grass) will feature Koyuki in an extended version of what TV viewers have already seen in the currently airing Panasonic commercial for the Viera TV. The decision to do a full-length version came after an overwhelming number of inquiries from viewers, many wanting to know if Enya was really singing in Japanese, which she is. The two-and-a-half minute version will be made by NTV. The TV commercial shows Koyuki as a fairy-like figure on a grassy hilltop, but the new version will be set in a church, reflecting the Christmas timing. Koyuki is best known abroad for her role in the Hollywood hit The Last Samurai.

Actress Hirosue Ryoko (24) is to make her first TV appearance since becoming a mother. She will appear on a segment of a Tunnels variety show special on December 23, a national holiday. The popular segment features two celebrities eating a variety of dishes and trying to guess which one their opponent hates, while at the same time trying to hide their own disgust. Hirosue's opponent will be Olympic hammer gold medallist Murofushi Koji (30). Hirosue hasn't appeared on TV since giving birth to her son Hiroshi in April. She married model-turned-designer Okazawa Takahiro (29) in December last year. • Noda Yoshiharu (58), the founder and president of Yellow Cab talent agency, has quit to start another company. He will take with him several of the more mature stars he has groomed, including Hinagata Akiko, Yamada Maria and Megumi. Yellow Cab, which became famous in the last few years as a stable of busty female talento, will continue to represent such current stars as Koike Eiko and Sato Eriko. • Duo m-flo have won the Best Asian Hip Hop artist award at a music video festival in Korea. As the country only lifted a ban on Japanese pop music this year, the award is the first of its kind to go to a Japanese artist. The duo is made up of Korean-born Verbal and DJ Taku, and they performed on stage with BoA, another Korean who has made it big in Japan.
