lol well I figured you did because you didn't sound pissed off in your post.
A very astute observation, Sensei Given the circumstances (having the opportunity to return the more expensive pair) there is no need to get pissed, ya feel. I get bent over enough sh(t so...it's all good.

KDDI to launch 1Gbps fiber-optic service in Oct
Saturday 27th September
TOKYO--
KDDI Corp will launch a fiber-optic communications service with upload and download speeds each of up to one gigabit per second on Oct 1. The new service will target people living in single-family homes and low-rise apartment buildings. The traffic speeds will be the fastest in eastern Japan, up drastically from the current 100 megabits per second.
With the service, KDDI aims to catch up with Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp, which has a share of over 70% in the market for fiber-optic broadband services for single-family houses.
KDDI will charge 5,985 yen in basic monthly fees for Internet and telephone services, down 1,155 yen from the current price, if a user subscribes for two consecutive years.
KDDI will start offering its fiber-optic services, which are now available only in six prefectures in the Kanto region and nearby Yamanashi Prefecture, in four cities in the northern prefecture of Hokkaido.

New broadband for Australia:
THE Federal Government has announced the "largest infrastructure decision in Australia's history" after deciding not to award the National Broadband Network contract to a company.
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd said the Government would go ahead with plans to build a national fibre-to-the-home broadband network that was up to "100 times faster than what many people use now".
"Years of failed policy have left Australia as a broadband backwater," he said.
"This new super fast national broadband network is the single largest national building project in Australia's history."
Mr Rudd said the Government would provide the majority of funds for the project.

We are over 3G over our 20G allowance for downloads this month (midday - midnight). Guess what? my son has discovered the delights of downloading TV series I had to educate him on when to download - midnight to midday (another 54G)

I'm still amazed that you have limits...
I don't think we have such things here in the States.... At least not yet.

It sucks, but at least the plan i'm on is pretty reasonable. A lot of plans in Aust aren't - and they charge by the MB if you go over. 15c/MB, which doesn't sound much - until you're a G over and it's $150 extra. Mine is a much more reasonable $3/G.
I believe there's limits in Canada - I think Wyn-chan mentioned there was.

Sorry to sound naive, but what's the reason for having limits in the first place?

Cost for ISPs. Australia is so far away from everybody else, and there is very limited number of cables connected to us. I think I read that ISP get charged for data too. New Zealand is even worse. Of course, those who charge $150 for every extra GB are obviously ripping off unsuspecting customers.
