Kick that fool off the computer and say that it's a matter of life and death for you! Tell 'em that this is very important to you and that it'll just take a moment to process. hehe

Nah, don't want you to get in trouble.

Hi groink,

Hehe... I think you made the techsupport guy making minimum wage piss in his pants...haha...

I don't think these type of companies expect to have people with extensive knowledge as you confront them head on. I was involved with a startup many years ago and we usually had certain employees take the phones or have contact with the public. IT folks didn't want to take on the many idiotic questions that they get daily, so the fielding questions from public was left to the kid who wanted to learn from the IT folks or maintain the website or scour the user websites for illegal files.

But at least you were cordial. There are some people who get really hardcore rage and start screaming and screaming on the phone because their website is down.

Heh, from personal experience, being cordial is the way to go.
Corial customers (with probs)=Better service and better responses.
(I work in a customer service based industry, so I hate it when people get in my face for something that I didn't do)
But that David was a rude asshole. He stopped replying after Groink asked the questions. He was speechless, basically.
But the thing that really gets me is that Groink was CORDIAL during such a time.
At least he (David) could've tried to "toss the customer's salad" just a bit more, but unfortunately, he did to no avail. --Horrible cust svc (IMO) C'mon people! Cursing That's your job! Toss the customer's salad if you have to!!!!!!!!

Jeez!!!! I wouldn't be suprised if Jdorama got offline again now........

I had some weird message after posting my last post before this. Something like, server could not be found. Almost in same format as the "DNS server not available (or something like that)" message I had when I was trying to access the site when it was down!!!!!!!!

Since one computer in your office works and the other doesn't, I wonder if rebooting the one that doesn't would fix it? This really sounds like the one that isn't working has cached the old IP address. There may be a way to get it to flush that info without rebooting, but I don't use Windows so I wouldn't know.

(Edit: Well, assuming it's Windows ... there's my rampant Linux-centrism rearing it's ugly head again).

That's what I think too. I leave my comp on 24/7. So when Jdorama was down, I couldn't get on. So when I finally restarted my comp at about 4:30-5:30pm or something like that, my next attepmt was successful!

You use a Mac like Groink then?

(I have not the slightest clue in the differences! Sweat Beaten )

Nope, although back in the early 80's I had an Apple Lisa!!!

I only use Linux these days (I had to edit my previous post to say that ... I just assume the rest of the world is on Windows, but I shouldn't be so presumptuous).

Was that the one with the green screen and you could play Frogger and that Turtle game? We had typing classes in elementary school and the teacher used to make us play around with the Turtle game and have him change angles (by punching in degrees) and move him which ended up creating a line (like slugs).

Don't know Linux. Sweat
