i dissagree 50% ...lol.. true that jdorama are good.. but i have seen one too manny illness story lines.. and about k-dramas... well just like jdrams there are bad ones with recycled themes, but most of the better ones are very original... try giving the best korean series of any given year a try.. i think u'll be pleseantly surprised how good some of them can be...
Oops...just forgot to reply to this one.
Don't get me wrong. I watch all dramas from HK, Taiwan, China, Korea and Japan. What I was saying is that I still love J-doramas the most even after all that. About me giving a try of Korean dramas, I do. I still watch it. In fact, my favourite is All In, probably because somehow it's different.
It's true that there some crappy J-doramas, but the good ones outweight the bad ones. I can't say the same for Korean dramas. My mom and sis are crazy about Korean dramas and buy them every week. They always drag me to watch it with them. Most of the times, the beginning would be very interesting, but as it reach the middle, I tend to get disappointed. I continue watching them so not to hurt my mom's feelings, but that's it. I agree that some are good, but that's it. No connection whatsoever. Nothing to make me want to rewatch it. Even my favourite All In, I tend to forget it seconds or maybe minutes after watching it. If it's to say that I hate melodramas, then how would the explanation be for my love for Virgin Road which is melodramatic enough? It's just that, Korean dramas can make me sad, but they can never make me cry, not Autumn Story, not Winter Sonata, not even Stairway To Heaven (which I recently viewed). As I was saying, I don't feel the connection.
To each his/her own, I guess.
P/S: About something extra that I found in J-doramas that I don't find it in HK serials, I don't know how to explain it. For the same reason, I guess. Most of the plots are forgettable, can never make me want to rewatch it. This is probably my criteria to differentiate between dramas that I love and dramas that I like. If that certain drama can make want to rewatch it again and again, then that means I love it. _________________

I like watch it cuz I love to hear japanese language and their accent so cute for me of course. The other reason must be about the actor and actress. Most of them so handsome and cute(like takky and also the cool guy kaneshiro ) and kyoko for the cutiest actress surely. But It doesn't mean that I don't like watch the other ones.

Until last year I didn't hear about j-dramas or something like this. Than I managed to watch Koukou kyoushi2003 and I became a dorama-fan. I love j-dramas because they aren't so boring like the most american or brazilien dramas. And Japan has very good actors too. I just like dramas and I'm a fan! _________________
Because of the j-girls of course . But seriously, I think the story of most jdoramas are great. And also, since most jdoramas only have 11-12 episodes, they don't eat much of my hard disk space _________________

i started to really like jdoramas co'z it's different all the time it's not always the same so many diversities to choose some are crazy, some really can bursts your tears out and some are can really inspire you to live fully. not like korean dramas and taiwanese always end up about love, how deep is love, blah blah it's the same it'ssss always falls in the same topic. and it's getting monotonous watching dramas except (jdoramas) it can't make me sit down for a bit and watch it till the end. _________________
My mom told me, that these dramas are just like those Jackie Chan movies. OK, she didn't saw none of the dramas. I told her than that there are so many types of doramas: horror, HS, comedy, love-stories, etc. She just asked "really?". But since she can't speak English and doesn't like subs, she doesn't watch them. _________________

I wonder sometimes, what sort of person gets into Jdrama aside from myself? Ifm fascinated with the culture in general. I listen to some Jpop like Utada, speak Japanese at a basic level, love the food and have had 2 vacations in Japan so far. My favorite sort of series to watch would be Taiga Drama, but I can still enjoy shows with a more modern setting like gAt Home Dadh or gOne liter of Tearsh and even like a few of the anime when writers spend enough time to build a decent plot.
I honestly have never known another person aside from myself that can just sort of dive right in to the culture as a hobby, and so friends do give me a little flack for it by attaching the title San to the end of my name and the sort. Ifve shown a couple of American anime otokus that seemed interest, some of the more adult media and provided them with the tools for language learning, but that only goes so far before they give up start cracking out on Naruta and god knows what ells.
I guess I just feel a little alone in my passion and wonder if Ifm eccentric in my interests or if there are other people out there with the same interests. I mean obviously there are other wise there wouldnft be sites like this out there in the first place right?
