Highlights are VERY popular among Japanese women in Hawaii. No consensus as to why they do this. However, for me there's nothing better than straight jet black hair.

Oh yay, a conversation about hair!  Since I'm blonde myself, I have criteria about when people dye their hair blonde......sometimes I say "Oh...that looks nice!" or I'll laugh my ass off.
Sometimes I think blonde hair on Asians doesn't look bad. It depends on what kind of blonde it is and the features they have. I think it looks nice when Asian girls dye their hair sort of a reddish blonde, but I tend to laugh at bright blonde or platinum on some Asian girls. When Asian guys with short hair dye it bright blonde or platinum, sometimes it looks alright when the roots come in a tiny bit and it fades a little. It depends on what the person looks like and the degree of blonde.
Big brown or black roots on Non-Asians are NEVER OK!!
Blonde streaks and highlights on anyone are definitely ok though.

But blonds on caucasians are fine. sorry about that, neo-kinpatsu

It depends on how it looks on the person. Some people just CAN'T pull off blonde hair ::cough::Sisqo::cough:: A little tiny bit of root coming in (especially on Asians) would be better for contrast. A fresh dye would look really bright and strange, especially with black eyebrows and having no roots! 
For anyone, especially white people, it would look laughable and trashy with BIG roots. A little is almost always ok, especially on men with short hair. Roots can come in after the summer time even when you don't dye your hair! LOL.

I said I think roots are never ok. I like Asians with black or brown hair are just fine, no knocking that. By big roots I mean most of your hair is blonde, but you have like 3-4 inches of black hair growing from your head with the rest of it blonde. Now that's trashy-looking, LOL.
